Cheer up, OP. You didn't have to give up though. Could have at least made like one of the lower leagues. Vardy just made it and he's close to 30s. Was in the lower leagues most of his career.
---------------
Concerning the thread title --
I used to get worked up over it but as I've gotten older, I realize happiness comes from within. So, I accepted my weaknesses and strengths and set life goals based on that. So long as I meet my goals, then 0fcksgiven about everyone else.
I don't get jealous because I don't have the goals that other people have. And I accept that someone will always be better than me and I'll always be better than someone else.

I find it funny that, considering the time zone now meaning most american miscers will be replying, alot of the answers so far have been absolute bullchit
never ceases to amaze me how full of chit most americans are
BRB you're a ******* for being jealous bro, let me neg you before I sleep because I have to go to my chit job in the morning to pay for a car I bought on finance to impress people I dont like
BRB let me quote the garbage I read in some Tim Robbins book about "achieving personal goals" so I can wax philosophical on messageboards
BRB most consumerist nation of earth of excessive fatties talking about the downsides of individualism
Jealousy is a powerful motivator brah, use it wisely
Alot of the most successful people were INCREDIBLY jealous and petty. Dont listen to a bunch of weekend warrior *******s trying to give meaning to worthless lives.

Surprise, surprise one of the more successful miscers too. People who claim they never get jealous are massive copers and if not they're often the worst type of people who will actively hinder others progress because their jealousy is soo deeply innate, they're not even aware of it.
After seeing the thread the female olympic swimmer or those african kids getting into Harvard, miscers are in no place to be commenting on a lack of jealousy

Imagine this OP. You never got a glimpse of his life, you don't know him, this never happened. His life is nothing to you, has no effect on you.
Before you found out about this, you were fine. But for some reason this knowledge had this effect on you. Why? Because you let it. His life has no bearing on yours. Figure out what you love to do, be around people you want to be around, and create your own perfect life. Then start working towards it. you may never reach it, but you have a purpose.
Why would you care about someone else living a life you want? Go work on living it yourself!
Use that as motivation. You're jealous because you want that life. go and try to live it. Use it as motivation, don't let it demotivate you
A man who chases two rabbits, catches neither.

How do you people not feel the same? How do you not feel jealous towards all of the people living the lives you can only dream about but want?

Don't care about how other people live because they aren't me OP. One of the best pieces of advice I was ever given: "control what you can control." Being envious over someone else's life only brings you down so just stop thinking about it.

Played throughout college, was at D1 but things didn't work and they fukked me over, went D2 powerhouse. Struggled to play. And I played for some of the best club teams, started my whole life almost every game, etc. Coach kept playing me out of position. Would say I was the best technical player on the team but wasn't big and physical enough. got bigger went from 150-185lbs in two years and grew taller. The he said i couldn't play the position how he wanted.
Played indoor after words for money. Was going to try to play USL but had such horrific knee pain and patellar tendonitis I decided to stop. Lost passion. Let things get me down. My own fault. Maybe I wasn't good enough? Maybe I focused on the wrong things when training? Let people control me and how I play.
Oh well man. I didn't pan out either. I feel you. I know professional players. My buddy I played club with at the chicago fire was playing for Chivas, then New England, Now in Puerto rico. One of my buddies plays pro in Croatia. Another kid I knew from my first college played for LA Galaxy now is playing pro somewhere in Germany I think. A guy who grew up down the street for me is the starting keeper for the US men's national team. I know a kid (not personally) that also plays for the sounders.
Yea I am jealous. But oh well. I found new passions. in the end I don't have regrets. Regrets can't change things. I moved on and now I am happy as I go through life exploring the other beauties of the world. I spent so much time playing soccer, watching it, dreaming about it, training for it, etc. I consumed my life and I missed out on so much. Missed my prom, school dances, weddings, parties, etc. But hey I learned a lot and enjoyed it. I have so many good memories from it that I will always have.
Just focus on you now and figure out your next passion and next goal in life

Give yourself a pat on the back for doing things lots of other people only dream of doing. (Being an ivy league grad) Then move forward and dont pat yourself too long
Reflect on your feeling of jealousy for your friend's brother situation (being a pro) and use that as fuel for what you want to do. (ie move forward)
Understand that you will have opportunities that many dream of having and you will not have opportunities others will. Its life. Its ok to feel what you feel. Keep moving forward.

oh and...
some people start on third base, even if they didn't earn the triple they will act like they did while you're still swinging for first.. everyone has a different set of cards, play yours as best you can

Happiness, sad, regret, excitement, jealousy, etc. Being aware of situations around you and using that information to control your situation can be useful.

if you let things out of your control affect your life, you'll end up being controlled by something you can't change, it is the definition of wasting time
