Read all of what you stated, FAP*******, and that chit does suck. But id still say work hard and keep failing in prefer for you to keep growing and succeeding. Also studying and working IS NOT LDARing if you working towards yourself. Some things come slower than others, and some also don't have the skills or talent to take on the highest jobs, but that shouldn't keep you from being the best you can be. Aim high, and even if you fail, you still have something to work with even more than if you just settled for less.

Well no chit, are you gonna tell your kid the truth that they will more than likely end up in a dead end crappy job living paycheck to paycheck?
Unless youre rich as hell and leaving your kids enough to live off forever chances are their adult life will suck.

That bitchy rant was really just me venting. I am frustrated by the direction my life is heading, but looking around, I really don't see any way out of it that's better.

Unfortunately, that networking is how **** gets done in the real world. I've been able to circumvent it by grade-grinding, but that's not going to last much longer.

I had VERY LITTLE connections either. As long as you continue to remind yourself that the personal side of the equation is equally important and you keep working at it, you will do better over time.

Donblaximus spitting truth as always ITT
FA******* no one is telling you to quit school lmao. Finish your degree then get a job, save a **** ton of money (one benefit on being FA) and keep thinking of business ideas. Could be online or brick and mortar. If you're too lazy for that then good luck with working for someone your whole life. I worked for 3 years before leaving to start a business. I'll have to go back, and fuk if i know if its gonna be successful, but thats what risk is.

Once you have an answer to that then I would start talking to the profs in that field first. I bet they have a ton of connections. Get to know the prof that has the connections. Find a way for that prof to want to help you succeed. Its as subtle as what you just did here on this thread.
You honestly came across as a whiny biotch (as you admitted), but the fact that you told the story of how you grinded out high school to earn a scholarship for college made me think of my younger years. It made me want to chime in and give you advice. You will make it as long as you dont keep doubting yourself every step of the way.

Just a question for anyone ITT with experience - as a young guy, would it be better to put savings early into a 401k, or keep that money ready to look for business opportunities?

lol why are a bunch of you acting like OP is just making chit up and doesn't want to take responsibility? Sure everyone should take responsibility for their actions but to say your childhood has no impact on who you are as a person and what you're good at is just naive. Everyday of my life I had to live with the fear of getting smacked by my dad. I was always a little stupid. I always wanted to play sports and have a great time growing up. I always realized the importance of nutrition and aesthetics from a very young age. None of these fit my dad's description of what he wanted in a child. He was always very abusive my entire life. He never let me go outside to play like every other child. What made me happiest as a child was sitting in my room under my comforter watching other kids playing sports outside and pretending to be a commentator and hoping I didn't have to talk to or see him for the rest of the day.
So you're going to go ahead and tell me I have just as much of a fair start as everyone else in life? You're going to tell me I didn't have to work 5 times as hard to have just standard social skills? Then you're just a dick if you think the first 16 years of your life don't help shape and build you as a person. I had fear asking the sloot at Tim Hortons for my $10 change if she accidentally gave me $5 just to avoid confrontation because that's how I was raised. I legit just walked out. Just one example. If I didn't find /r/theredpill I'd still be exactly like that. I'd probably be laying in a ditch right now. True I'm kinda the opposite of what I always was at this point and am starting to chase my dreams and doing decently but not everyone finds supportive people and resources that help them turn their life around. The childhood you have and the situation you grow up in has a lot of impact on who you are.
I was taught that if you work hard now you get to have a great life later on. And if you try to be Chad then you're miserable for the rest of your life. "Work hard these first 20-25 years and enjoy the rest of your life." This is what you're told in every brown household. You're told to ignore Chad and are told he's just going to regret it later and that you should just study hard now so you can enjoy "the rest of your life". All for what? So you can have some slut marry you for your diploma and get bored and cheat on you? Our parents didn't live in the same circumstances as us. Hence they don't understand. Study hard now while Chad phucks prime pussy and when you turn 30 you can realize you outdid Chad because you're smashing some 30 year old Chad left-over and she ended up choosing you over Chad eventually! You are the ultimate winner! Believe it or not these are words that every brown child is told. That's the mentality they drive in you not realizing how you're only fooling yourself. Zero emphasis is given on social skills, mental health, volunteering, sports, nutrition, etc. Just study study study. This is just an example from one culture. I'm sure a lot of other cultures deal with their own issues because of a generational gap. That's why I feel for FAs who are trying to make it but still struggling. My point is, to be a victim and feel hopeless and not do anything about it is pathetic, but to blame it all on entitlement and act like you can turn anything around regardless of circumstance and everything is on you is pretty shallow.

Some have it easier than others. Some are in the right spot at the right time.
Why does that matter to you?
I'll answer that, because it's a way to protect your ego because you are saying to yourself you didn't make it and it's not your fault because _____________.
Bottom line, it's an excuse. Plenty of people are successful who came from nothing. You fail and fail and fail until you succeed. The only catch is, that not everyone succeeds. That's life, that's reality. So what the fuk are you going to do about it?

Unless youre rich as hell and leaving your kids enough to live off forever chances are their adult life will suck.

Age: 23 - surprised you have not figured this out yet.
What life is about. I'll answer it for you. People want to feel good and be happy. That's different for people, some it's a fat bank account. Others it's the simple things like reading a book and relaxing. Others, its climbing the top of the corporate ladder. Others it's an easy job that pays just enough to get them by. Etc. The sick and evil may like to hurt or cause damage to others, but they get pleasure out of it.
At the end of the day, none of it fukkin matters. But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy your time while you're here.

No they were right. The potential was there - it is for everyone - you just didn't have what it takes to maximize it. THAT is the harsh reality you should be facing.

Doesn't matter what you're told when you're that young, you're naturally going to want to see it for yourself.
People who were meant to be a somebody will become a somebody. Those who are meant to be bums become bums. Genetics go further than just physical appearance.
Just because you were raised Christian doesn't mean you'll remain the same. Likewise; people who grew up poor with chitty parents may very well end up rich themselves and vice versa.
You might be influenced slightly by certain people, situations or acts, but as a teenager or pre-teen, you can't possibly fathom the importance of lifestyle because you rely solely on your providers for everything.
Your parents may be living paycheck to paycheck struggling to feed you but do you really comprehend what that entails as a kid? All you know is that you have food on your plate everyday and clothes and that's how life is.
In the end you are who you are.
As I've grown a little older I see that alot more clearly.

You know the difference between people who succeed and people who don't (like you)? It's simple. Those who succeed have a strong awareness of potential and a strong belief in themselves. They know that even if they don't have certain skills now, they can learn them. They know if something seems hard now, it is temporary. On the other hand people like you will point fingers at anyone but yourself to try and justify why you can't succeed. Everything is always everyone else's fault, never your own. Family, friends, job, your cat - always something holding you back. Until you get over being a giant fukkin pussy afraid to fail and unsure of yourself, you will stay in that position. Your number one priority should be trying to take responsibility for every aspect of your life - which you no doubt won't.
