Reading the letter he wrote it sounds like he did try to fight back, got into a fight with one of the bullies called Anthony and ended up fracturing his pinkie finger but for some reason he got into trouble with the school for it and not the bully.
Sounds like the reason for bullying him was that he failed 6th grade and that's when it started. He does say one of the teachers Ms D'Alora did try and help but other teachers like Mrs Goldrick didn't do anything.
Sounds like the school really failed him, even when he fought back against his bullies it was he who was reprimanded not the bullies.

When my niece was bullied, the bully was finding it hard to get to her as she had switched classes and was changing the way she was going home and so the bully got into my nieces best friends head and turned her best friend against her, what kind of Machiavellian chit is that? All ended fine in the end but the mind games they play is just on another level.

How come no one blames the parents? If he had support from the parents he wouldn't have done this. . Possibly.

I too was bullied around that age. My story is probably no different than any other person's story here. I wore the same clothes two or three days a week. They were clean, though. My mom worked three jobs. We didn't have much and the other white kids knew it. The black kids and I were all cool because we were in the same boat. We moved around a lot, so out of necessity I became an extrovert, which is actually the opposite of what one might expect. I did so partly because it was my coping mechanism. Most white kids would just Bertstare at me and the black kids accepted me. Kids would push me, knock me down, slap me in the back of the head, wipe boogers on me etc. etc. I never fought back. Then I moved one last time. We ended up in a smaller school. This school was one where everyone was around my socioeconomic status. With my extroverted skills, in an area where I wasn't one of the weird, poor kids, I became a rockstar. The bullying stopped. During this whole time, I never once considered suicide. I tell my kids that if I ever catch them being a bully, I'll square up to them. I've had to act on it a few times. I also told my kids I expect them to square up to bullies. So far, I've seen the bullying get managed. We will never get rid of bullying. No amount of laws will ever change it. We need kids to stand up, pimp slap bullies, and just defend themselves.

I will be teaching my kid to defend himself and immediately resort to physical violence anytime he is legitimately being harassed. People at the school will never and really can't do anything about bullying like this. Wonder how aware the parents were of this whole thing. Teenagers and school is just a ****ed up environment.
RIP 13 yr old bro, hope the bullies are permanently scarred by this, basically just took someone's life by proxy.

That's only acceptable for women and little boys being attacked by an adult male. Never for other males of relatively equal abilities/age...

Horrible story. Feel bad... RIP lil fella
I get what where you're coming from, but kids can be mean as fukk ... And I'm willing to bet even more so nowadays thanks to social media. There is absolutely no justification for bullying and the kids who did the bullying should be held accountable as well the school.

If you can't survive middle school then you SHOULD kill yourself. Totally different story if he had a mental issue though.

Pissening. I feel bad for the kid being raised by emotionally distant or incompotent parents and attending a chitty school with chitty classmates in Staten Island. RIP in Peace.

I'd escalate things with the school very quickly too if I were a parent with a child being bullied. Fuk talking to the teacher. Go to the principal and then over his head to the superintendent and even the board.

I feel horrible about the kid because I was in his situation plenty of times and thought about suicide at that age.
The problem is weak parenting, his parents just like mine raised a weak kid that won't punch you in the mouth if you slap them on the head (i was like that). It takes a lot of mental work to change from being a doormat to a man, and some people have it given to them on a silver platter by their upbringing. This kid, obviously wasn't given enough love or whatever, and he had extremely low confidence which in itself attracts bullies.
I got bullied relentlessly for a few years by a tall lanklet until I punched him in the jaw and he fell down and I got on top of him and ****ed his face up, then he always treated me with respect. Though I played sports and did bodyweight exercises like pushups and pullups daily, so maybe this kid wasn't as strong as me. That's why I'm putting my kids in sports and other physical activies so when it comes down to it they can brawl
100% blame the parents, bullying is natural and you can't police it

I would like to know how the parents handled this situation throughout all the trauma. Did the kid shut off from his parents ? did they coddle and put a safety blanket over him ? if you ask me, this kid who decided to end it all was a lot smarter than what he even knew. which tells me nobody was listening to him and he had no where to turn, including his parents. just not the answer he shouldve taken. now a smart young man is gone because of ****ing trogs like the parents, teacher, and dumbass spawn that he went to school with. damn shame.

Parents need to instill self confidence in their kids and love them, be there to support them. If you don't want your kid to kill yourself then talk to him, tell him that you're there for him no matter what, and advise him.

I hate bullying, but it is somewhat a way of life...it's there just like death and taxes. One of the biggest problems are the parents that cocoon their kids in these "safe" environments, then when they go out into real life they're not ready. Parents need to teach their kids that world is not nice and fair.
When I was in highschool teachers wouldn't do sh*t if they saw someone get bullied. Either you defend yourself or hope someone is nice enough to step in. Teachers didn't care or they were held back in fear of parents/lawsuits.

The bullies is gonna regret this for the rest of their lives. Maybe they won't realize this now but definitely when they hit maturity.
