Well, the wife's gravy train job . . . which we have always known was going to end anytime over the last few years . . . looks like it will be done around the end of the year. Been a really nice ride for her and she'll get a pretty sweet severance deal as it ends. But it's a little bittersweet for her. Drove her nuts at times, but the pay and fringe benefits were really hard to beat. That extra cash coming in was what allowed us to pay off the house so early.

I have a feeling that they will try to keep her doing some part time work remotely, but we'll see. One of those things where, if they do that, a short amount of work with them would pay off better than a job working a lot longer hours elsewhere. But we'll see. Will reduce the "fun money" a bit, but she'll be a lot happier without the stress.

I'm sure we'll be a little less free-spending after this settles out, but we really don't "need" her to work. We've basically been living off my income and putting what she earned toward the house, savings (ours & college), a few nice vacations, new vehicles, going out to eat, etc. It's actually a good time for her to scale back for awhile.

I hear ya. I think once the boys are closer to getting out of college, mamaB is gonna semi retire and I'll be in that boat with you. We've talked about it, but we deemed it prudent to have two incomes with both boys in college. Maybe she can keep moving up the ladder and I can cut back......that would be fuggin sweet.

Yeah . . . we'll have to finalize the long-term plan, too. Ideally, she takes the time off now (since it's right there in her lap) and then we get the dual income thing cranking again for the college years to make things easier and to pad the retirement nest egg. I think we're in pretty good shape regardless but I want to bank as much as possible before the "Big R" hits.

I've been a one gun owner for 18 years now. My glock 19 has been a trust workhorse which I use daily on the job, but recently I acquired an LMT Defender. Papers signed over, a few more days to wait. It has an ACOG, and I ordered a cheekrest for proper elevation, bore cleaner, and a soft case. I'm so psyched, it wasn't even on my radar, but here we go. Now I can take part in these threads, ha!

I would like one, but it seems like I'm not going to get one. I am still in love with my existing vehicle and rather than buying a different one, I feel like I would like to spend any extra money on a fun bike in the short term. A cheek-rest on an AR-pattern rifle is bad. Generally means that you won't be able to action the charging handle. Why would you need one anyway, the comb is at the right height for the rifle as-is?
