Former Marine checking in. Can confirm I don't lift anymore these days. However I run and stay fit.

Is it wrong it is not a priority anymore?

It's the people who begin weight training purely through no other reason than to ride this trend that really started taking off around 2012 or so. There are more and more people lifting weights because they feel that it is a necessary part of their doxa. These are the same people who go to the gym with their gymshark and gymking hoodies and t-shirts on while swaggering around with invisible lat syndrome. It's from this crowd that I normally here the "do you even lift bro?" kind of chat. Luckily, I think most will grow out of it.

All the cringe worthy comments are amusing. Whether they're intended to be so or not, they're most definitely complimentary as far as I'm concerned. It's nice to stand out from the crowd in a lot of ways, not least being recognised for good levels of fitness (though a lot will be recognised simply for being large).

Well done OP!

Wait till you get to my age and you're still lifting.

I love the (though it does get old) comments; "You look good, for your age."

Geez, I look better than most of the 20 -30 somethings in my gym.
She approached with her hand extended,. I slowly stepped back. "No" she said. "I just want to shake your hand. You're amazingly gorgeous." As she walked by me she copped a biceps feel.

I'd reckon people make jokes because you look bigger than 99% of women out there. And bigger than 95% of men lol

Unfortunately, being different in today's world = jokes will be made

We've had so many conversations about this on the misc that it's just exhausting now. We all know humans are insecure as fuk about themselves and it's easier to dish that outwards than to look inwards. That's why the general pleb populous chooses to hate on people who actually care about their wellbeing and the way they look.

That's your long answer.

The short answer is this: Fuk them.
*Look at reflection in car window and flex every time crew*
*Use half the roll to wipe after a poo crew*
*Fart in the gym and blame rotten smell on faulty ventilation crew*
*Fart at home and blame it on the dog crew*
*Watch neutron-star density poop mock me as water flushes around it and it stays put crew*
*Drive 2 minutes in the summer and back of shirt gets completely wet crew*
*Coffee black as midnight on a moonless night crew*
*Fat shame my cat on a daily basis crew*

It's pretty ridiculous to be a bean pole these days. You literally have to pick up a set of DBs and curl them once a week to get at least mediocre biceps

Lmao my favorite is to be like "oh idk probably like 100 lbs"

Then queue the unexpected laughter of either the person who asked or someone listening "REALLY? EVEN I CAN DO THAT LMAOOO"
"Then why don't you look like me?" Always good for a laugh.

What is irritating are the people who drop the dumbbells and slam them around. Over time it strips the threading and makes it almost impossible to tighten them.
