I dream that I have the ability to fly but I'm terrible at it. I have to concentrate hard to do it and if i lose concentration I fall. There are also always power lines, buildings, or some other obstruction I'm trying to get around. Every once in awhile if can get passed the obstacle I can go really fast. It's frustrating and interesting. Haven't had that one i awhile though.

It is Roman times and a there is a battle in a forest and in front of me a man is being killed by what look like Neanderthals (I think he is a King or someone important) and i run to try and help him and it all goes black and then repeats over and over.

Two Ravens are watching me and i throw a stone at them and they grow huge and i wake up. (had this dream a lot when i was a kid)

My teeth are falling out.

I am being chased and i have a gun and it either misfires, shoots a cork, or airgun pellet.

Exactly the same here, weakened brakes, no teeth falling out. Surprised at how many people are having this dream though wtf.

Also the being chased but can't run dream.

I have a lot of flying dreams as well, sometimes they are more so jumping very high than flying. how weird.

I keep having this recurring dream that i'm back in high school and I have an assignment due in English class that I haven't started. I get overwhelming anxiety from this dream.
I appreciate well thought out subtle trolling.

I am surprised this has not been brought up yet.

okay, here we go. strap on. ah hem, in, strap in.

when we sleep our brains release hormones and neurotransmitters that paralyze our bodies. Specifically neo-eprenephrin, histamine and serotonin.

There is a clear evolutionary advantage to biology preventing us from acting out our dreams. Keeping us in our bed, behind locked doors during our most vulnerable state of existence.

When we experience sleep paralysis, we are waking up before the effects of the chemicals has worn off.

nifty.

i don't think i've ever had a recurring dream.

There have been some recurring themes.. I've had 3 dreams where I could fly.
But they were all dramatically different..

1 I astrally projected and flew through the roof into the sky
2 I was on a team of superheroes fighting a team of supervillains
3 i learned i could fly as an unexplained phenomenon
it used to happen daily as a kid and now its started to happen often again

anyway to stop it?
that is weird to happen on a daily basis. I would start by changing the position in which you sleep. When I try to lucid dream, which for me, required entering sleep paralysis, I have to be in a certain position physically. Try sleeping in the GOAT position, on your side, maybe cuddling a pillow. Disclaimer, I am not a expert, just a dude.

- Throwing a punch but either not being able to throw it or it having absolutely no effect on who I was fighting.
- (When I was a kid) This guy and his dog always chased me for some reason and I'd be in the front yard and spot them then run but before I could outrun him he let the dog off the leash which then chased after me, I tried calling out for help but nothing would come from my mouth. Dunno how it ended.

Aliens chasing after me and abducting me. I try to hide but they find me and take me by force in every dream.

Preparing for a zombie apocalypse. In my dream I always know it's about to happen and start either collecting supplies and packing, fortifying my house, or fighting them off.

My boyfriend cheating on me or breaking up with me.

I honestly don't know why I have these dreams... it's really weird because they have no relevance to my life what so ever. The alien dream and zombie dreams still happens from time to time in my adulthood, wish they wouldn't though.

Only recurring dreams I get are the jumping ones (talked about below) and ones where I'm in a war/chit situation where it's obvious me and all my friends are going to die. Scary but fun at the same time. Love/hate.

Hate these dreams, the jumping is always fun but then falling is bad and I feel like I'm going to die and then wake up or something. In most of my dreams for some reason I have super jumping abilities and always think it's a good idea and then I'm 200 feet in the air falling thinking FML. And for some reason I never realize it's a dream despite this happening regularly for the last 10 years.

I've dreamt of teeth falling out and no brakes about once each that I can remember.

The being chased by someone or something has happened a couple of times, always different.

My reoccurring has to be getting brutalized while in handcuffs and shoved in prison for the rest of my life for something I didn't do and no one believing in my innocence not even my attorney. Usually wake up trying to escape and it starting all over again.

Falling and waking up before impact

Teeth falling out maybe once.

Unable to punch or sometimes run

Doing way to many pushups or pullups and then i wake up and lol at not being able to do that many

I believe I astrally projected as well. Had sleep paralysis then I felt myself start to float up but my astral foot got stuck on my body. I jerked loose and then floated awkwardly outside (through the wall of my house). I only got to my front yard and as soon as I had the thought "Holy **** I'm astral!" I snapped back to my body instantly and sat up.

A really cool lucid dream I had was, I went into a house with a strange green light and developed super powers. I knew I had super powers somehow but didn't know which ones so I started testing. I wondered if I had super strength so I tried to lift a giant boulder, couldn't do it, so no super strength. Then I wondered if I was invulnerable so I started punching things and it didn't hurt so I assumed I was invulnerable. I concentrated really hard and realized I could shoot lazers from my eyes. I took a deep breath and could breath fire. I thought of a distant place and realized I could teleport and being a big Heroes fan I thought that I could probably stop time too, which I proceeded to do. At this point (after many dreams previous dreams relating to it) figured I could probably fly and I could but like all other dreams up to this point, I was terrible at it. I was in control of that dream too right up until I acknowledged that control.

One common reoccurring dream I have is being stuck in the middle of a raging storm. Funnel clouds will start to form and I have to run around dodging tornado's.

Number three all the way - punching like your arms are noodles. For me this dream (or part of a dream) always comes with trying to yell and finding my lungs empty, like I just got punched in the gut.

Definitely something in the fact so many common dreams feature an inability to protect oneself or alter the environment. If there were nothing in it there would be an equal number of common dreams where you knock people out of their shoes.

A recurring dream for me is massive waves - gigantic, awe-inspiring, monolithic walls of water either in the ocean or crashing down on me in a canyon or valley. The kind of mass and power where you just stare with your mouth open, totally overwhelmed at the mere sight of it. My dad used to take me in the surf a lot as a toddler so it's obvious where the dream comes from - on a similar token, I can swim well in all strokes except butterfly and can never recall being taught, I've just been able to swim since before I can remember.

interdasting, when seeing this thread I realized actually been awhile since having any notable dream I remembered but last night I did for first time in long time, maybe triggered from this thread

anyhow I randomly dreamed I finally ran into an old friend from childhood that I totally lost touch with years ago, for awhile he was my best friend as a kid but we both moved/changed schools etc and went separate ways, tried searching him online few times long ago and not successful but last nite dreamed we met each other again irl. hope that turns out to be true prediction

At this point (after many dreams previous dreams relating to it) figured I could probably fly and I could but like all other dreams up to this point, I was terrible at it. I was in control of that dream too right up until I acknowledged that control.
this is kinda like when I lucid dream, been awhile since had one but back when I did usually kinda like this and I have superpowers such as flying, main difference is I do maintain control and really kinda opposite I take control at the moment I realize it's a dream so I can do whatever I want, most common is I'm running from something or trudging along trying to walk somewhere and I realize fuk this chit I'm dreaming so I can just fly

My lucid dreams are strange. I realize I'm dreaming and have control but I have to keep it at the back of my mind or I wake up. If I consciously acknowledge the dream it's over.
