lol @ crying about time having time wasted. why don't you have subordinates that interview for you? and once the best 2 or 3 candidates have been selected through 2 or 3 rounds you meet for an informal meeting and then decide who to hire knowing they all make the grade skill wise.

interviewing and asking questions about salaries etc makes you sound like a tradie unless you are CEO of a startup, and barbara is the gf/PA.

The guys says - and I'm not joking - "I'd be satisfied with anything over 35 thousand".

I glanced up from my clipboard like "u fukking wot". This was an 80k/yr position, how did this little twat make it through the gatekeepers?

I realized my time had been wasted but I put on my pokerface and let me curiosity guide me to confirm the worst.

Looking down at my clipboard writing notes about this guy I ask "what was your most recent compensation".

$30k a year he said.

I stood up and opened the door.

"I'll be in touch" I said as he awkwardly got up and fumbled out the door in his cheap suit.

WTF, Barabara in HR is going to get an ear full for even making me talk to a 30k/yr earner who clearly should not have been there.

Anyone else had this happen?
Is this roll bread?

I agree with OP, I'd be fukkin annoyed. I am very busy. Talk of salary usually comes at the end of the interview.

I have 4 positions open all paying 80k - 90k - 100k year 1, 2 and 3

I've had some people who interviewed really poorly. Likely painfully bad.

The really good ones want 110-120k starting. The bad ones want 50-60k. Hard to find the ones in the sweet spot.

any miscers need a job in MD 30 min from philly?

Time to hit you with a true story, boyo. A few years ago, I applied for a job at a CPA firm in Oklahoma when I was living in Colorado. Phone interviewer asks me, why would you ever want to move to Oklahoma if you live in Colorado? They successfully got me to withdraw my application for the job by talking up how chitty of a state Oklahoma was

A standard CMU block is less than 8", kind of like how a 2 x 4 is less than 2 inches x 4 inches. Its around 7-5/8. With the mortar joint, it gets you closer to 8", which is what we use when we are estimating heights in courses of block...in place...for placing windows and such along joint lines so it doesn't look all whacked out. The same with the length and width, a standard CMU block is closer to 15-5/8 and the width is closer to 7-5/8.

I was going to leave it alone because its funnier to think of him as 5'-4", but I did the quick math and like you it seems he's around 5'-11" if that's standard CMU.

I had an interview last year while I was looking to get out of Louisiana, and the company was in some little sh*thole town in Georgia. Super small and country (by internet search), and was at least 45 minutes to an hour away from any decent sized city. But, it seemed like a decent company to work for and I took the interview as a favor to the recruiter. "Just see what they are offering." In the interview they asked why I would want to move to XXX, Georgia...and I very honestly said "I never said I did. I'm willing to move for the right opportunity, but I'm not sold on XXX, Georgia being where I want to move my family to. Tell me more about it." They proceeded to confirm everything I assumed from the internet, so I said thanks but no thanks.

If this actually happened just lol at his stupid answer to your question.

Then again, $30K in your poverty state is probably equivalent to $60K where I live.

u w0t m8s? You do realize there are oilfield workers (aka borderline tradies) that probably make more than you?

brb a 90k salary, then a 8k a year bonus, with all food, clothes, gas PAID. Then you get massive amounts of points for travel.. Then you have bonuses just for setting foot on location, and depending how long you're there sometimes even more.

They can end up making 150k or more with all their basic needs paid for as well. Then factor in the cost of living in Oklahoma and you have some beverly hillbillies type sh*t(jk there's some smart fu*kers in the oil industry).. Okies do aiight.

Only thing I will say is they buy too many "toys", nice homes, and vehicles etc. and don't prepare for the down times. If they invest it correctly and manage their money well they have no worries when it slows up.

When I start up my o&g service company I plan on having a mandatory Money Management 101 class for all new hires.

u wot m8? All I was trying to point out is that the COL is low there while trolling a bit. Which you confirmed lol. I'm sure everything you said is true. Those guys make serious bank. Like you say, if they save and manage it properly they are set. Most have to learn that lesson the hard way though. My boyo was showing me houses for sale on the outskirts of OKC that were cheap as dirt... Can you confirm?
