I retired 2 years ago at 28.

Eat, sleep, gym, computer, girlfriend.

Whoever is or becomes your gf is one lucky sob, because she pretty much has your undivided attention lol. Getting picked up at work with the top down while all her coworkers have to take the poverty route and train it home.

The only difference with me is I didn't retire a millionaire, so if I need more money, I just have to stay home and do less.

Mirin hard as fuk. I'd probably work part time, devote more time to hobbies and accomplishments outside of work. Occasionally go full rot mode.

As others said, getting into start ups etc. would be a good way to spend the time and money. Although if you aren't terribly sophisticated, you may want to take some finance/business classes, otherwise you will get taken advantage of.

If you don't want to get into the private equity world, you could do some property management. Or you could be a teacher (srs, sweet lifestyle, work 6 hour days, have summers off, have chance to actually care about kids and try to make a difference rather than just be a bitter middle-aged man who is pissed he has no money and hates his job).

I would probably spend a good amount on every friend and family member that I give 2 ****s about. If they need a new car, house/mortgage, school etc.

"What is the good life?" is one of the central questions in philosophy and people have been debating it since time immemorial... i'm in a somewhat similar position and unfortunately brah no one can answer this question for you...

first things first, the harsh truth is that many a fortune has been squandered by women. tell your wife to stop looking at bigger houses (and whatever lifestyle dreams she is probably harboring) for now. let your money simply sit for a year (see if you can get a time deposit with a decent interest rate) and take the time to calm down and think thing through properly. maybe sure you and your wife are on the same page about your future and how you wanna live.

personally, i wouldn't go into angel investing/venture capital. you will be dealing with a lot of egotistical, stubborn and psychopathic people. furthermore, it's hard work and you will probably simply end up losing money. investing in local small businesses could be interesting if you find the right person/opportunity, but lets be honest: your local laundromat is probably run by some chinese hustler and you're back to the original problem of having to deal with unpleasant people.

entrepreneurship is incredibly time consuming but if you believe in your product then it can be fulfilling. building something for yourself feels good. but you will be going from being a wage-cuck to being a cuck to every single customer you have. you said you don't like explaining things to other people? well you will be having to pitch your business to customers from day one if you go down this route.

did you enjoy college? is there any area that you're really curious about and would wanna research? try reading some scholarly papers in a field that interests you and see if you find it interesting, and whether it's the kind of thing you would wanna/can write. i know some rich kids who basically become tier-two academics: got a PHD in something they found interesting, do research into but at their own pace, work as adjunct professors and lecture a bit, etc etc. one or two even became proper academics with tenure-track jobs.

anyways, find:

* something to do
* something to look forward to

GL

I'm proud of you for some reason.

I have no advice since I'm still grinding away but from most of the successful people I know, they keep busy with side business or dive deep into hobbies. It's human nature to keep busy and keep evolving.

I'm Asian too, Korean. We have really strong family values too. My parents are well off as well from real estate, but not near the level of my uncles. So it doesn't bother my parents or me as much. But still, even if my family was poor, they wouldn't give jack. Haha.
Basically, it's immediate family or nothing else, when push comes to shove, really.

Invest 80% in diversified assets. Equal weighting real estate, stocks, bonds, gold. Buy index funds and dividend stocks to keep fees low and the stock portfolio stable. Real estate where you live and work, an acreage in the country and a penthouse by a University.

Use 15% to fund a business or two with partners who are experienced in the industry. A nice restaurant near the penthouse would be ideal.

Going to Uni would be fun after that's set up. Buy a track car or two. Get my helicopter pilot licence. Obviously give back to charity once I find a good cause. Maybe get into Politics later on.

Would be cool to bring a family and/or a few good friends along for the adventures too. Whether that means paying for regular gatherings at the restaurant, paying for vacations or buying an extra house for guests by the penthouse.. it's nice to have good people around to share these things with.

Congrats, brah.

What I would do.

Move to a city I really liked.

Work part time doing real estate investing. Combination of rehab and sell and renting. If green to the subject simple check out 123 flip and bigger pockets to learn everything you need to know.

Buy a ranch near my house with a good amount of acres. Horses, four wheelers, etc.

Take up a new hobbies which for me would be film making / editing. Brb making sick family and travel videos.

What business did you retire from? Is it online as you said if you need more money you just work from home? I'm in a similar boat that's why I'm curious

Start a charter fishing company in Costa Rica and bang latina hbbs in the sunshine on your boat
A young bull and an old bull were standing atop a hill looking at a bunch of heifers in a field below.

The young bull says "Let's run down this hill and fuk one of those heifers."

The old bull replies "No. Let's walk down there, and fuk them all."

Definitely mirin. That's one reservation I have about working for a large company (eng in big pharma), is that even with profit sharing opportunities I will likely never stumble into that kind of wealth. Always nice to hear these success stories though

buy land (srs) "Buy land, they’re not making it anymore." -Mark Twain, especially if it has access to a large body of water.

property with a water source will become appreciated in the future for commercial uses. Cheaper to build with water access than ship water

As for you and your daily life... Turn a hobby into a business. For instance, if I ever came into money where I'd never have to work again; Id start a charter sport fishing business ex. marlin, swordfish, sail, tuna, wahoo. I enjoy fishing so thats what I do.

"A man without a purpose is like a ship without a rudder"

I'd also do some charity work with kids, mainly boys without a father figure, growing up I faced my own difficulties so being a mentor to a kid and providing support I think can help a lot of young men/kids in their development and getting them on the right path in life.

Wake up in the morning with a purpose

Hope that helps, cheers

If I had that kind of **** you money I would get into real estate.

Brb driving all across the country with your top down looking at places to buy once a week or so. Get a company to manage them for you. Land, apartments, commercial buildings anything man.

Thanks for the replies and well wishes, brahs! Kind of surprised there wasn't at least one "This happened" or "OP is a *******" reply tho

Answers to a few questions that came up:

-I'm 35
-Can't quit now. I'll still be getting retention payouts in January 2018, 2019, and 2020 that are significant enough that I'm not going to walk away from. I'm trying to plan for an exit after that.
