Face it, you couldn't cut it in college so you resort to trolling these types of threads to peddle your inferiority complex-driven bullchit to whoever will listen.

I think the point is made against people who try to act like college is the best and only answer.

Many people in my family for example fit that stereotype, dropped out hs, aint doing chit. But then there are others who also fill the other criteria. College education, struggling, working multiple jobs, aint doing chit. Some had a salary increase from a better degree but that's as far as it went. Most successful person in my family dropped out of college, became a manager at AT&T and a countywide chairman and politician.

Maybe those who go on these kinds of forums are more likely to be educated for some reason?? And that's why it seems that many here are doing quite well?

I know alot of people who are not doing so hot..most of my friends are probably somewhere in the middle income wise (40-70). But I'm also aware of many acquaintances who are doing as well as I am. Out of my friends I'm certainly top 5% income wise.

I never claimed you can't be successful without a college degree. I merely pointed out that data has shown that higher education generally results in higher average wages. I think it's dangerous to tell an entire generation of impressionable kids to completely forego common sense and disregard empirical evidence and instead sell gadgets on eBay because muh business/personal brand/buzzwords. Do I think students should broaden their horizons and look at alternatives to college? Of course. There's plenty of money to be made in trades and various other avenues. It's just disingenuous to try to convince them that degrees are useless.

Survived on 20k a year in Texas for 4 years. Now making 3 times that. Single and no kids, 20k is enough to live off of. Still live off 20k a year, just have a bigger savings account now.

Jealous you guys are starting so high..I came out when the economy took a chit and had to start at much less than that. Probably missed out on a decent $50k in savings due to bad timing.

Then again salary increased by 250% since starting salary in just 6 years.

Most millennials are lazy af and expect a 6 figure income after college.

I'm trying to hire a graphic designer for my business and decided to ask friends for references.

They message me and when I ask to see their portfolio/resume, they say okay send it soon. (Brb takes 1-2 days to send)

I have friends who complain about money but when I offer 16/hr part-time gigs to help me do basic office work or ship packages, they're "too busy today"

When you think about it. It doesnt surprise me all that much. Millennials are some of the most lazy unmotivated ungrateful entitled moochers who have zero work ethic. They want hand outs from everyone. They want to do as little as possible but make great money. They go to college, get some stupid ass degree that will help them zero in the real world then spend years working at Starbucks afterwards.

That may be, my argument is that college isn't necessary to be successful, and it's sad that they doop kids into a lifetime in debt by promising them the world after they obtain this meaningless piece of paper.

Ya, guy I started my career with had no degree but just Godly knowledge about networking. He's def making close to 6 figs full time and just started his own hosting company.

Honestly made me regret spending close to $100k on a private university when I probably could have gained same knowledge for much less in a community college.

Gas station attendant, cashier at a store, etc.

Anyone who has managed those types of jobs will tell you how hard it is getting decent employees that will even show up at work regularly. A large portion of these fukk ups will call in sick or just not show up on weekends as well (hung-over from night before). Ask anyone that manages those types of job's what uneducated/unskilled employees are like and they'll have nothing but negative's for 90% of their employee base.

A large portion of millennial are just selfish lazy azzholes that expect to be handed everything. How many able bodied male's have 0 sense of pride/self worth and aren't making any effort to improve their socioeconomic status? You also have to account for rural area's where there is simple not much work and the jobs in the area pay very little.

My mom makes around 20k per year and she manages to live on her own, pay her car note, and cover her bills. She's lucky that she has a paid off house to live in however. She's never collected unemployment, food stamps or utilized any kind of government assistance. Granted, $10 an hour at 40hr a week is about the best she can do. Reliable employee but no real skill-set or education for an advanced career. Stay at home wife/mother for 30+ years kinda fukks someone over when they decide to hit the work-force.
Fun fact boyo:
Every generation says the previous generation is entitled, spoiled, bratty, can't show up to work. There's been studies done that confirm what you are saying is bull****.

There are multiple competing factors as to why certain people show up to work and why certain people don't. Being a millennial (which, by the way, isn't even objectively defined due to increases in technological advancement) isn't one of them.

It's cool that your mom made such low money and continued to support you. However, times change and cost of living increases. What your mom made, relative to the cost of living at the time, is not the same as what these kids are making relative to the cost of living at this time.

Something tells me you are a staunch conservative, maybe from the south, who's against financial aid and welfare because "i aint paying my tax dollars to help them degenerates"

Sorry about the way it shook out bro, we all make choices we regret, I was a 50% partner in my aforementioned best friends Augmented Reality/VR company. We started it together in my spare bedroom in 2013, he hated his day job and architecture is my passion so he quit his job and moved to doing this AR and rendering shyt full time and wanted me to jump too but I didn't. Obviously we had issues because I was still getting half of all the money so we reduced my stake to 25%, that worked for a while but was still too much money going out for my production so I had him buy me out because it was driving a wedge in our lifelong friendship. Now he is about to be acquired with a 50% partner to provide growth captial, his current valuation is 5 mil, after being acquired they estimate the company's 3-5 year growth to 30-50 mil. It's a misstep that I beat myself up over every day because I literally threw away the winning lottery ticket.

You could also do law or medicine. I honestly think that if you go to a prestigious school, do well and major in something relevant to a long term plan, you'll be safely making 6 figures from your mid-20's on. Once you get your first prestigious job, you'll never have trouble making money again. The problem is if you fuk up, and most people do, you'll have almost no options.

It's calledempirical evidenceyou stupid dropout and it holds infinitely more weight than some dumbass anecdotes. You'd know this if you'd taken even a basic statistics course.

Spoken like a true dropout. It isn't about he piece of paper, it's about the skillset (both hard and soft) that the student acquires over the course of his degree.
Bro I work out of my home office, I have no employees. That is all my money (minus what uncle sam gets) Look I shouldn't have uploaded it, it was a douche move but you're wrong on saying college is necessary. It isn't, hardwork, networking, and individual skills get you just as far, if not further.

How is that piece of paper working out for many kids that graduate and end up taking jobs as servers, or bar tenders? I bet their bosses really give a chit that they went to school. Also I had the opportunity to go to college, I chose to go to trade school because for 2.5 years I learned about what it's like to work in an architectural design studio, I learned how to cut sections, draw plans, elevations, etc. With real world guidelines, not some theoretcial world that college puts students into. I am 100% content with my chioce

This

So the most moronic thing you've ever heard is that I would place empirical evidence over the word of some guy on the internet? Thousands and thousands of data points are irrelevant because some Miscer claims to be an outlier? Wait I'm sorry you probably don't know what an outlier is because you don't even understand high school level statistics.

One thing is for sure, you definitely didn't graduate college

Hmm but that's an entirely different country. Different cost of living, different tax structures, different social programs. Not sure what your circumstances are.

That's rough, but yea we don't have crystal balls. I don't regret it that much as I paid off loans long ago, and I guess a few employers have been impressed with the university I graduated from. Though work experience has always been most important factor past job #1.
