Some yacht owners also use it to avoid paying taxes.......I read somewhere that if you stay at sea for a certain amount of time and not docked, a country can't claim you live there, thus avoiding some type of tax burden

With the amount of incompetence I find just trying to get someone to mow the yard I can't imagine having to find people to crew my boat that wouldn't steal everything before sinking it.

No one thinks that rappers own 15 million dollar yachts. Billionaires own boats like this. And they probably stroke a check for it and sell it before it takes it's biggest depreciation hit.

Well you're not looking in front of home depot for people to man your yacht. It's the same as finding crew for a plane. There are agencies that staff these things and the require licensed captains to pilot.

Firearms also will be held by customs for the duration of a yacht’s stay in the Cayman Islands unless the vessel is fitted with a safe that can be sealed. Yachts entering Mexican waters require a permit to carry firearms and/or ammunition issued prior to arrival through a Mexican embassy or consulate.
