I'm 36 and I still play video games. Who gives a fukc? I'm in the house, not running the streets or burning unnecessary gas.
He sounds like a massive *******.

He's actually right. A man over 21 really shouldn't be playing video games.
Unless you are making a living playing or developing games you really should limit it to two hours a week max.
Women find grown men playing video games very unattractive.

The reason husband and I are together is because we have common hobbies. This is not the olde times where you just married Jimmy from down the street because he can take care of you. Having things in common is a must if you wanna make it. And before anything else married for 8yrs, 10yrs together.

And before you say watching TV, movies, those are **** hobbies as well.
Giant wastes of time.
At least with reading books you're getting a fair amount of brain exercise in.
I guess the better debate is how active/passive your brain has to be while doing your hobby, and how that translates into being physically challenging.

Yes I stand by my statement. If a door needs to be fixed he should fix it and not play. A lot of men ignore their other household duties in order to play games and sit on the thing for hours at a time instead of going out and creating memories and experiences for their wives and family.

BRB my brother is a nerd, gamer, comics, card games
BRB wife is hobbyless
BRB gets annoyed at him even trying to get 15min of anything
BRB brother is miserable
BRB won't leave because kids
BRB just works and work and works and works
BRB brother has no hobbies and is misserable.
Meanwhile husband is sitting in front of me eating his dinner while playing on the DS and our kid is fed, bathed and asleep. Chit like your hobbies shouldn't take away from the establish adult you already are.

What you describe alternative stuff that adults do can be done in less than 5 hours but cost a lot more $$$ in the long run.
For $60 I paid for Persona 5 and that long-ass RPG took me 90 hours to finish. It sure as hell worth every dollar.
Also video games nowadays have evolved into full-blown interactive movies with amazing graphics. The Last Of Us, Uncharted 4, GTA V, Persona 5, Final fantasy XV, and maybe Bloodborne (From recent memory of this-gen gaming).
In the real world, real wages have fallen, housing & education has skyrocketed to record levels and protesting doesn't seem to cut it nowadays. Now it is death of apathy for all around. When grown-ass men such as OP is playing video games and old people are starting to take notice, this is when things will go downhill from there.

I'm on the fence.
I'm of the notion thateveryoneshould be working towards accomplishments, especially in their adult years. The last thing you should aspire to be is a 40 year old couch potato beer swiller with a dadbod. Yes we all need downtime, but 3-4+ hours on a console is far too much.
I quit video games years ago. I actually miss playing them, but I just have too many things I want to improve on or learn in my life and I could literally game for hours every day. When I was on nofap, it was all I did just to get my mind off the urges. Masturbation and gaming were my two biggest vices and in those days I managed to be rid of both of them, you could say they worked in tandem but I was only able to be rid of video games after realising I could - about 200 days in I believe. Enough about Nofap.
So; I sunk many, many hours into an MMO and ultimately it meant nothing because what Ididaccomplish went to waste with each major update. Once it was gone, I found myself bored and I do still, occasionally. Hence why I miss it. But, I stick to my guns and I know that if I went back I'd get addicted again or at least play more than I should and everything else in my life will be neglected. And that's the issue - gamers can neglect their real life if they "escape" too often. I know a streamer who games full time and he broke up with his GF, I consider it a factor because while she doted on him - sometimes she would even go on camera, give him a kiss and some food - he seemed disinterested and just focused on the game.
I too gamed sometimes when I had a girl over - I cringe thinking of it now. The girl wanted to **** and I was just playing Bayonetta...another time another girl I was playing MoH.
I am not so holy, I still watch a lot of gaming on YouTube. It's my compromise, instead of wasting money on consoles and games and spending hours on them, I watch whatever channels upload. If PewDiePie uploads a Battlegrounds vid that's 20 mins long, that's 20 minutes if gaming instead of god knows how long I'd spend playing that game - Probably 4 hours.
TLDR; That's why I'm on the fence. We all need our break aways but video games are fake accomplishments dressed up as real ones.

It's really a big problem if you took too much time for playing game, especially if you are unemployed.
