Just lol if people start confrontations in the gym. Honestly if they're that obsessed with their ego and have to try and be tough, they're usually an insecure pleb. Tell them to take their tablets

I workout at 24 hour fitness in the east bay of the SF Bay Area and I've never gotten any rude people srs

Everyone is chill and well mannered, just ask nicely if someone is finished using a machine and carry on with your day

Only dumb people try to get aggressive and start ****

Only time I can remember was when I was a Sophomore in college, using the college's gym. I'm doing incline dumb bell press. Some kid comes in and moves the bench right next to me to do incline as well, and collides his dumb bells with mine mid set. I finish the set and I'm like wtf move over. Awkward eye contact rest of the semester.

Not a confrontation but that is about as close as I would ever get.

I worked out in a ghetto YMCA for a few years and saw a few things, usually between us whites and the blacks. Idk what their problem is but if they decide they want to use your machine, bench, or weights, they just take it, often to piss us off just to see how far they could take it. Once I was dumbbell pressing 70, in the middle of the free weight area, and there is this black dude who needs to rerack his weights. I think it was the 50's. The free weight area was being remodeled and the space was about halved, but you could still get around the benches on either side. Well my legs pretty much reached the free weight rack and he decided he needs to go that way and not around me, and start screaming at me "move your white ass over b!tch" while I'm mid set. I ignore him, and he throws his weights down and start throwing his hands around trying to get me to move. Not a good place to be. Manager runs over and tells him to shut up and leave and saved my bacon.

Doing incline press, went to get water, come back and see my bench is taken. Calmly walk up to the older man, tell him I was using it but he can work in. Dude instantly gets mad, "How was I supposed to know you were using it???" in a angry voice and walks off.

Old dudes are the worst. I was on preacher curl and tri extension machines. My gym bag n water bottle were literally right under the curl machine. Dude was watching me do my set. I walk to tri after i set n goes n starts taking my weights off i say excuse me im on that...oh i didnt know. So i said well you watched me use it 2 seconds ago and my back is literally right there so what did you think was going on?

Gyms should really teach a 2 hour or so class on gym etiquette

One time I threw my gym towel on the ground. On a cable machine which is attached to a lat pulldown machine a guys was using.

I swear he had his foot stretched out as much as he could have because I just dropped it next to my foot, either way the towel landing slightly on him. Sent him into a rage and he was asking if I wanted to take things outside lmao

I was 15 and didn't bring a towel so I used my shirt. Some dude told me to quit the gay chit and put my shirt back on. Would rep him.

Nothing happened but I know one guy was rustled when he asked me how many sets I had left. (I just did my 1st set of 10x10)

I’m all for super setting, but IMO the possibility of someone hopping on the machine when You’re doing the other lift is part of the game.
Supersetting this-is-my-station trash is the worst trash in the gym after 50 million dumbbells around my bench guy.

If I ran a gym I would ban super setting, it is the cause of so many arguments. It is done in my gym,but it is a hardcore bodybuilding gym and is rarely busy ,plus people know each other and train together a bit like in the arnold days. I would never allow it in a commercial gym with 'normal' gym users.

Only seen one confrontation in my gym,not involving me though. Our gym is underground ,like dorian yates's gym. and above is a bar. Some years back, a doorman from above used to come down the gym and act hard saying he was a boxer , talking '****' saying bodybuilders are gay, just generally throwing his weight around. It would be called 'banter' probably and we just ignored the idiot. He one days came down when a member was there, who is not only huge but has a horrendous anger problem. the bouncer talked **** to him, saying for his size is that all he could lift?,and called him a fat bastard The member got in his face and said ,why don't we go in the beer cellar and have a fight. ? so him and the bouncer went in the cellar and you could hear the sounds of screaming and someone getting a huge beating. A bit later the member came out and asked for some help and we part dragged/carried the doorman upstairs out the door and left him passed out in the alleyway. We then called an ambulance and went back to training.
I bang trannies.

Hed then take a 5 minute rest in between sets. Gym was always packed so people would get pissed and complain, but gym staff were a bunch of 19 year old females who were too scared to call him out.

One day I was in a rush and wanted to get a quick squat sesh in. Of course, moron instructor had leg press loaded up. Went over and asked him if I could take a few plates in between his sets. He said no. Proceeded to call him out on his zero range of motion, 5 minute rests in between single sets etc. Told him hed actually accomplish something if he lowered the weight and did the exercise properly. Also told him he was a dick for hogging all the plates.

Dude gets off the leg press and gets in my face saying how he's an instructor and blah blah. Get a inch from my face, I tell him to back the fk up because I'm ex mercenary, have done snatch and grabs in the field, been in the powder wars, and that Texas castle law dictates I can end him on the spot for threatening me. Non negotiable. He started getting red faced, backed up and apologized. He whistled for a cab and when it came near the license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror if anything I could say that this cab was rare but I thought nah forget it yo home to bel air. That was the last time that cuck instructor showed his mug in that gym. Everyone cheered me too after I called him out lol.

was at the gym and I needed to take a piss. the gym only has single use bathrooms so I had to wait a good 6 minutes for someone to come out. It was finally my turn and some pregnant lady jumped ahead of me. I went in and told her to f uck off, but she wouldn't listen. she sat down and went to work. i gave her two quick jabs and a right hook in the gut, she never messed with me again

This one dude that had cerebral palsy always got on my last nerve. I'd tell him if he didn't stop leaving his cane everywhere, I'd wrap it around his neck. The little pecker is a good sport though, he always has some pretty witty zingers to throw back at me. I think I heard he sells mystery novels on Amazon or something. He moved out of state a few years ago.

Strong fukking this.

I usually keep my annoyances to myself, people standing in awkward spots, hogging equipment etc...

But doing chit like dumbbell rows ON THE FUKKING DUMBBELL RACK and essentially blocking access for anyone else makes my blood boil like no other. I have literally walked into people on purpose doing chit like that pretending I needed the weight. Move the fuk away from the rack so others can use it. How people have no concept of this is beyond me, always makes me want to print giant posters to put at the rack "BACK THE FUK OFF YOU *******".

I get what a lot of people are saying around here and it's a basic "me first" > decorum thing that gets to me. I hate seeing people kick/roll dumbbells around the gym expecting people to part like the red sea because they needed that heavy dumbbell to do a few presses while screaming and can't lift it back to the rack.

My worst situation so far was this: the squat rack at my gym is basically right in front of a mirror, and beside a 'rest area' with a shelf for watches/bottles/towels/whatever. To deadlift I have to put the barbell on the ground, then get weights from both sides of the rack and start (the rack is often in disarray). Yet beside the rack there is a smith machine, also facing the mirror in front of us. Now, what happened is, I'm in the middle of trying for a PR in deadlift and this person beside me on the smith machine tried to walk THROUGH ME and the barbell I'm holding during a deadlift to quickly get to the rest area, without simply walking behind/around. I called her out on this and her boyfriend comes over asking what my problem is, and I said "Look, it's disrespectful to try to squeeze through a 10 inch gap between me and the wall here so you save 10 steps to go to the rest area". I was raging at this point, but fortunately they then walked around and moved their stuff from the rest area somewhere else.

It's f'n unconscionable to me that some people are so damn disrespectful of personal space/access in the gym. Luckily this did not escalate, but I mean it should never have happened in the first place.

I end up re-racking/organizing all the plates in the squat area after I'm done just for the hell of it while I catch my breath. I can't believe that some people feel so entitled that they just leave anarchy behind them after they are done with a station. If I own a gym someday I'd boot that kind of person out, and take the f'n loss of cash. Hope to be in a gym someday where lifters actually care about maintaining a clean station, everywhere they work out.

Went to an old BBing gym where everyone knew each other, just me and one other guy training at the free weights. Ive seen this guy around tons of times and let on to him, whilst I was doing shoulder press next to him he kept spitting on the floor, never have and doubt I ever will see anyone doing this again, I asked him to stop spitting and he told me to shut the fukc up, I shut up and finished my workout lol. Was 17 and a pussy. Weird behaviour, if the gym owner or most of the guys in the gym who werent pussies he would have got slapped.

I've seen more confrontation in the elevator than at the gym. In fact, I've been planning on doing a documentary called "Confrontations on a Commuter Train" but haven't gotten around to it yet. The gym is relatively confrontationally benign.
