I agree OP.
Gym is also fashionable nowadays. Gym goers used to look up to Jay Cutler & Ronnie Coleman as their idols. Now people are inspired by random people on IG/YouTube that all have the same cookie cutter look, tattoos, post motivational quotes, try to sell supps via discount codes etc...
That being said I have nothing against it. Let them do whatever they want to do wont affect me in any way. Only thing I hate is how squats/deadlifts have become so trendy. They removed some of the best hammer strength/Life Fitness machines to make room for more squat racks & CrossFit chit at my gym. So annoying. RIP HS Low Row, HS shoulder press, LF dip machine... you will all be missed. 1 liek = 1 crie

The thing is, judging by the way most people talk about it these days, you'd assume it was the latter. Or maybe they're just over dramatic goofs fishing for social media brownie points because somewhere along the line people started acting like going to the gym was akin to doing a tour of combat and for some reason no one called them out for being over dramatic goofsTo get the body you want requires hard work, and sacrifice.

Personally, the people that annoyed me the most are crossfitters.

If you think this is "cringey", wait until you see what all the corporate old dogs are up to with Marathons/ Triathlons. Every 45 years plus guy is wearing a Garmin/ Apple Watch/ Samsung Gear as they are alpha and train Marathon.
"The manlet is a savage beast that knows no moral bound. After falling in disgrace to a manmore, a ravaged manlet would not hesitate to come from behind and land a sucker punch/ swing with a rock to the back of a manmore's head. They are ruthless and you need to spend some more time in the gutter to even begin trying to comprehend what goes on in their minds."

I'd like to add:
Crossfitters take up a lot of space and look very busy with multiple pieces of equipment whilst logging in their times for their WOD insta updates.
Powerlifters are overweight and lug around large backpacks full of wraps, straps, chalk, belts, chains, rubber, compression support and two extra pair of underwear in case they **** themselves going for 1 rep maxes. These guys also take 10 minute breaks between 1 rep sets. Often can be found staring intensely at other people in their compression/ squat shorts with belt strapped.

Gives them a second wind and a chance to be happy as they probably have some old buffalo/ rhinosauraus that is on their backs day in and out.

So much LOL in this thread. So if you wear a Garmin watch because you train for triathlons in your time outside the gym, but use it in the gym to track your heart rate while lifting and measure rest time between sets, you're cringy? If you wear a tshirt you're cringy? If you don't post selfies you 'don't have a physique to show'?
All of what I mentioned above is coping. Just like these comments normally come from guys that basically shave themselves completely and constantly flex in mirrors in the gym in front of everyone trying to get the perfect post-workout pump selfie. Just LOL.
And to the 'lift but never mention it to anyone' crew - do you not have friends with similar interests? I talk about lifting with people who are into lifting. Novel idea, I know, but there are some people who share interests and enjoy discussing their experiences with one another - sort of like a bodybuilding forum encourages...
