This is why I would take the annuity if I won the power ball, not the lump sum. Fiscally, it makes more sense to take the lump sum, but in the real world, there are just way more problems you can avoid by taking the annuity.

das it mane. Also nobody can pull a "mom" from Futurama and swindle you out of your entire fortune at once, if you take the annuity

There was a time in the 80's where people thought the lottery was a huge scam. There was a belief that noone never won and the occasional winner was just an actor. They want to make it as public as possible to let others know tat regular people are playing and actually winning.

I'd still have to have some sort of "work" after that.

Regardless of how rich I was just ****ing off would get boring after a while.
The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.

Very true. It will be hard, however, now that everyone will beg him for handouts. Should've kept things quiet.

Awesome, happy for this kid. Now he needs somebody he can trust to guide him in the right direction (attorneys, advisors, etc.)

Move states (Texas baby), acquire land, build awesome home and shut the rest of the world out at the gate. Dude gets to live the rest of his life amazingly if he's smart about it. Good luck kid!

I don't think some people here quite understand how much money that really is. I agree, I would remove myself from any online trail, just have people I've respected and loved all my life around me--they will keep me sane plus they of course will be set for life--and go Scarface mode for about 5 years. After that, I will dressed poorly, deliberately have a bad car etc and try find a decent female to have kids with. Hire a lawyer and an accountant, pay them extra as well.

Good luck to him, hope he avoids some of the catastrophe's outlined in this thread.

Everyone saying "i'd do this, i'd do that" - got to take one thing in to consideration. Pretty sure you'd be in shock.

I mean think about it. $480 mill prize - basically a half billion.

you trying to tell me you wouldn't spend at least a day or two just staring at your ticket and double checking the numbers again and again and again, unable to process WTF just happened?

Actually Lifts Crew - will always rep lifting vids when posted.

Buy a nice house between 5-20mill and rot there for the rest of my life. Easy.
If I want to have children, then I'd find a 7/10+ Ivy league chick, even if we split the kids most likely won't be dumb fuks, I'm ok with that.

Would tell cousins to **** off obviously and I'd help the 3-4 friends that I have.

Yeah most people are too excited and go claim it immediately. I would look into my options, this would be a good one. Also I would probably split it with my mum, say we both bought the ticket. That way half the the winnings are kept my my mom and if I ever get sued and lose real bad I still have the other half of the winnings they cant touch. People are going to come crawling out all over the place trying to sue you. All of a sudden every person that comes to your house falls and hurts their back and wants money ect.

Lol it's 280m. You literally spent what 2.1m off that? Makes sense to be conservative with say you only won 5m but fking 280m, you can literally live off interest, invest and be set for life.

Stupid rule about having to show his face and name. Dude must already be getting "family" and "friends" begging for money.
