Maybe its possible to get amped up from the energy of the crowd if you're actually attending, but if you're just sitting at home watching it on TV...thats nap time for me. I'm willing to wager that you'd have fun PLAYING american football as opposed to watching it too.

true, but we also all played "futbol" as kids....and thats usually where it ends. We see it as a kids game or a game for girls. When you reach a certain age we just graduate to "big kid" sports like wrestling (not WWE, but the real deal) basketball and american football.

Our womens "futbol" team is pretty damn good, and thats because the sport is nice and safe for girls to play so they excel at it.

The NFL is infinite times more entertaining than soccer. NFL athletes are the best in the world and that isn't even debatable. The fact is to this day nobody here gives a **** about soccer because IT IS BORING.

What about the fact that we dominate the olympic medal count? Specifically the summer olympics... where the true tests of athleticism occur. Did we create all of those sports, too? We have more total olympic medals than pretty much every European country combined.

baseball was once the greatest sport in America, the great national pass time. I dislike it but feel bad it's fallen so much.

Women can play UFC too, and women play WWE as well these days. Unless they're Paige who's career just ended due to a nasty kick to the spine.

the truth is that americans prefer handegg cause they are absolutely terrible at football

btw,in the US, real football is the sport that had the biggest increase in popularity for the past years. Maybe in 10-20 years they will be good enough to play against the asian/african teams. And I hope to be alive to watch the US playing against the best teams, maybe in about 50 years from now (srs)

and people saying that football is the most famous, played, beloved and important sport only because it's cheap to play, then why volleyball, basketball, tennis and other cheap sports aren't as famous, played, beloved and important as the real football? lol yeah right

and last but not least, why would the rest of the world pay for expensive equipment to play a game that is less dynamic and fun, requires fewer skills and has 0 tradition?

But mostly because the USMNT and the MLS are the definition of poverty

American football is becoming less and less entertaining to watch. 10 years ago you'd see guys flying head first making a hard hit and now... breathe on the QB and its a penalty. Can count on 2 hands the number of hard hits in the last 5 years when that used to be the amount in 1 game every. That was the biggest appeal to most people and that's partly why its losing viewers every single year. 45 pts in a game used to be a rarity now its pretty much a given. Soon people are going to be bored watching 5+ TDs every game. Same with basketball.

Yeah don't worry man, soccer is surging over on the west coast. Biggest boon has been accessibility to world class leagues through NBC, BeinSports, & Fox.

My friend is a soccer hater and says the same tired argument "they barely score in soccer". Then I watch a basketball game with him and he barely reacts to the scoring. In fact the only time most people care is when the game is tight or it was an insane shot.

requires a ton of skill, fittest athletes in the world in a lot of ways, and it's more than just a sport for so many people. soccer fans are way more passionate about it than say americans watching football, brb don't care who wins just using it as an excuse to eat

your best athletes aren't genetically suited for soccer though. The position with the most transferable skill to soccer in any American sport would be maybe.. RB? They have the quick changes in direction, power, and jumping but even then they would gas out after like 5 mins on the field...
