That was one of the worst adaptations I've ever seen in my life. You have to be kidding? Did you even read the books? They absolutely slaughtered it, and not in a good way.

I read all 7 books every other year like clockwork.

You expected it to follow the story sequentially like the books. It didn't. The reason is clear, they wanted to see how well the movie would do. Hence the possible one and done shot.

At the end Roland asks Jake to go on an adventure with him, opening the potential for making the rest of the movies if it did well.

They had all the right lines taken directly from the book.

I get why they played it like that, but the components were correct and the characters on par to the book.

I’ve started The Wire three separate times over the years and still never made it past Season One, I find it dull as hell.

How everyone ranks it up there with The Sopranos, The Shield, Justified, Breaking Bad and the other GOAT tv shows is beyond me.

I expected it to make me care about the characters, to show some of the depth king presented them with, to not feel the need to change everything about the book because 'muh social justice.' It was forgettable trash. I hope they do a better job with the series based on Wizard and Glass but I'm willing to bet good money they **** that up to. So few people know the storyline, it's a huge mistake to try and re-write it into a sequel. They should just use the damn source material since it's already so well done. Hollywood writers tend to mostly be hacks and it's why we have so many reboots.

I didn't expect them to EXACTLY follow the books but I didn't expect a steaming pile of **** either, but that's what we got.

We'll just agree to disagree then.

You want Wizard and Glass to be a movie? But why? I frakin' hated the love story in it - I usually skip chapters of that book.

What would make a GOAT movie is Wolves of the Calla.

At any rate, I'm with you on the others--I simply cannot watch non-premium series. Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, American Horror Story, Sons of Anarchy and anything on ABC/CBS/NBC I simply cannot go back to watching.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Rick’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick’s existential catchphrase “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid

Sicario, was really looking forward to it, wanted to enjoy it but to me it was a lot of build-up without an actual pay-off.

Really? I haven't seen The Shield so I can't comment but I rate The Sopranos right alongside The Wire as one of the best TV series ever. The Wire has its share of anti-heroes (e.g. Stringer, Avon, and Marlo) but its aims are very different. The Wire is more interested in exploring and describing a time/place whereas The Sopranos is ultimately a character study of Tony. I wouldn't say either have a frenetic pace though, both are pretty much slow boils. I don't really understand disliking it for its pace if you really enjoy The Sopranos.

agreed there wasn't much suspense and the end was corny revenge nothing to lose cliche type of deal, too cinematic.

Not a huge fan of the sopranos, but you should really check out the shield. I've only made it a few episodes into the wire and couldn't keep going. I'd say Oz was pretty good too if you can get over the mule swinging around freely. The wire seemed to have too many stories going at once, where as The Shield and Sopranos mostly focused on one main theme with tiny sub stories sort of. I might give the wire another shot but I always stop after the 3rd episode.

I'm not big on Quentin Taratino films. I can see them being great during the time they came out in, but I just never thought much of it. I enjoyed Django, From Dusk till Dawn, but I never really thought much of Kill Bill. I just can't get into old movies either anything before 1980 is just meh for me tbh.

Vikings -lasted two episodes everybody seemed like such a tryhard, maybe I will check it out again
Seinfeld -was kind of okay, but started to feel repetitive after a couple of episodes, also Seinfeld stand up comedy tie ins were just terrible

Inglorious Basterds - did not really enjoy that movie, Brad Pit's acting felt wooden, the torture led nowwhere; have to admit though that Waltz and Brühl were pretty good and the plot really unpredictable

It is like Southpark or Futurama, but with more psychadelic stuff and instead of referencing pop culture and politics they mostly do obscure movie references.

Heat sounds like my type of movie/has a great cast but I've tried to watch it 2/3 times and dont think I ever got past the hour mark

Really disliked In Bruges too and wasn't a fan of Hacksaw Ridge at all

As for TV shows: The Walking Dead never did it for me. I think I stopped before the halfway point of Season 1
