I consider the empty bar as stretching and do it every time before I bench. I have a bad left shoulder that will need surgery as soon as it finally completely gives out on me. I don't worry about it anymore though because I have a power rack in my garage.

Machine's like Leg Press on the other hand is a different story. Moving dozens of 50+lb plates (25kg at my gym) is tedious as **** and I love it when someone leaves at least a few plates on the machine. And it's not like someone is going to be jumping on the leg press doing less than 2-3 plates per side unless they are doing some weird pilates warm up in which case GTFO.
fuking lol @ the sloots that do that 1 leg sideways butt press thing on there with an empty bar lmfao

Tbh I train at home so it's not an issue for me, just trying to point out there are various reasons why it might be an issue for people and those who train in public should be considerate of others. Generally bar is going to be easier than plates but it depends on height. If I had to I guess I'd ask for help, but I'd rather just have to ask for help with the bar and not everything on it lol

My biggest pet peeve is when people walk up to you at the gym and advise you on form. It's always some twink too. Perfect form is overrated. Obviously bad form increases your chances of snapping your chit, but if you don't cheat on curls a little, you will never push things as hard as they can be. I cheated on every fuking rep for curls, and made solid progress. I'd never recommend cheating on heavy compounds though, especially squats or deads...if you cheat on those, you can seriously severely injure yourself or die. Bench is pretty hard to cheat on and have it injure you. Just don't drop the bar and die.

"You'll snap your chit if you cheat!"

I load more plates unto the bar when I'm done. That way people will get more of a workout.

Agree, it's just common courtesy. The one time I was too out of it after a hard session to remember to rack the weights I left a 25kg plate on the machine. Got an angry call from the gym next day because apparently some chick came in 6am in the morning, tried to remove the plate, dropped it on her foot and now was talking about suing the gym. Oops...

It's really rude. Sometimes I'll go to my gym and there will be 3 plates still on the bench press. I'll get so angry until I realize it's a home gym.

At my favourite gym there is a note on the machines that if you aren't strong enough to unload them to go and ask the girls behind the desk to help you. Seems to work.

I warm up with the bar too, it helps fire your CNS up.

A guy i train with who is a pretty competitive PLer (600lbs raw bench) also warms up with the bar, take from that what you will....

I leave a 45 on each side of th bar, both towards the very end, so when someone removes them the bar flips up and hopefully uppercuts them in their dome. **** the police
Lifts:
Squat: 460x1
Bench: 400x1
Deadlift: 575x1
OHP: 250x2
Weight: 180 lbs.

Don't have heroes; look up to no one. Because as long as someone's leading the way, the best you'll ever be is second.

You have an issue with someone curling in the squat rack in an empty gym but leave weights on the bar? LOL
