9-5 isn't for me. I'll stick with my shift work, getting half the year off and opportunity for overtime whenever I desire it.
The trouble with being punctual is that nobody's there to appreciate it.

But at the end of the day, my job brings in $0 , and I get it from a business perspective. There's only so much you can pay educators, especially when at least 25% of my school gives the most minimal effort possible.

9-5 or 40 hours a week is cake walk. There is no excuse to blame anyone but yourself if you only work 40 hours a week and can't do what you want to get where you want to be outside of work.
Try working 100 hours a week for months on end then get back to me

Eventually started my own business and quit the 9-5.
Holy chit was that eye opening.
Good money but holy fak the hours and stress were insane.
Back in the 9-5 now, but with a new boss, and making a lot more money. Quite happy with the "grind".

I pretty much hated every job ive ever had until i became a brewer. The money sucks (like 30k downgrade from my last gig) but its worth it doing something i enjoy. Its much harder staying in shape though having all the free beer i can drink around me every day.

People can do whatever makes them happy
I would never be a wage slave. I chose freedom and independence over that nonsense, but some people need to be slaves because they don't have the ability to be anything else

I'm saying make expotential wealth in a VERY short period of time, then once you have achieved a good lifestyle that youre happy with, financial independence, a good savings account/safety net, then do whatever the fuk makes you happy.
If you wanna be a rockstar, then go play at concerts/pubs/bars/restaurants. If you wanna be an actor, then go act for low budget indies. Do what makes you happy.
I dont think people are only happy once theyre industry leading.
Like if I ****ing loved painting artwork, I wouldnt be like "I fukkin HATE painting, its so bullchit. Unless my work is in the louvre- then I dont get a chit about it"
The attention/fame/rep you get is a direct correlation to your passion and hard work - which is your hobby.
Do I think everyone has the potential to be a millionaire? No of course not. Some people are born into war torn countries, some people are disabled. Some are lazy. Some have awful work ethic. Some just arent interested in persuing it .
Put it this way. If you are posting on the misc, you are fully capable of becoming a millionaire. You can read/write English. You have internet access. You have the ability to think / question things. All that is lacking is research, faith and putting in hard work consistently.
I mean, i've just turned 26 a few months ago and own a $2M+ house, have 2 of my dream cars, dont need to actively work anymore - but I still do because I enjoy what I do and it isnt time consuming or stressful.
I didnt come from a particularly wealthy family. I sure as hell didnt get any help from family. I had a standard free/government education and so on..

I dunno man, I just don't see that kind of opportunity. I've researched alternatives to the 9-5 and even did freelance gigs for a while but besides *******s trying to sell you chit, I didn't find anything that makes sense to actually make more money than working a regular job.
Maybe you have a talent that's in high demand and 99.9% of people don't have, maybe you were lucky to find out about an opportunity that because of time or talent isn't open to almost anyone else. Have you considered that?
Are you sayin there are no 30/40yo people who are still broke and miserable because pursuing their dreams and so on?
I just think you should give a break to all the people talking about having a high stress job. It's not complaining, it's just sharing their reality. The stress, whether part of the job or just part of their personal circumstances, is real. And if they are in fact doing that and not making bank like you just working 4/5 hours a day, then perhaps it's not because they're retards and could be doing as well as you just researching something on the internet and applying it for a couple years. It's because there wasn't that kind of opportunity, or at least because they didn't see it and thought 9 to 5 was their only option.
So if you're going to criticize at least justify how the average 9 to 5er could have a 2mil+ net worth in less than 10 years, and how it could be done consistently and not just because of luck.

Facts are facts, 99% don't make it.
1% who do make it aren't those 'who refuse to give up'. They are, in most cases, extremely lucky individuals tied with the fact that they had a talent and worked hard.
You gonna take that 9-5 job be financially secure that you don't mind, but not your special snowflake 'dream job and passion' that your mum and dad said you could achieve when growing up, can still hit the gym, see your friends, have a good social life, etc or be a bum in las angeles working at starbucks stressing about your next bill and never giving up bro!! hoping one day you'll catch your lucky break in that acting gig.
Key is working the 9-5 but not going home and sitting on your couch, work on your own dreams in your own time. There are 24 hours in a day.

That’s like Bill Gates coming in here and saying “I was a billionaire at 30....just gotta work hard for it brahs!!”
For most of us, life just ****s us in the ass and we end up working jobs that aren’t that great just so we can afford to live. Got a wife, kids and mortgage? Yeah I’ll just quit my well-paying office jobs to start my ****ing home brew beer business or whatever. Lol get real bruh.

500 hundred years ago - scrape by barely getting enough food and hope not to be eaten by a bear or scalped by a savage. Work sun up until sun down.
Today - working a 9-5 in a climate controlled environment sipping on a Starbucks and miscing is such a “drone” existence. How do people do it? Maybe they can do it because it’s the absolute pinnacle of human working conditions.
This society is laughable. We go to the grocery store and pick what we want to eat from thousands of products all the while someone is literally wasting away from the lack of food on the other side of the world...
I’ve said it before on the misc and I will say it again..This generation needs to get out and travel to understand the realities of human existence. At any given point we are three days from a society that resembles a cave mans existence...

It seems that everyone in this thread, including the OP video thinks that it's either, BS low skilled 9-5, or be a Joe Rogan type, and get lucky I guess.
I have a 9-5 job, but in this job I can do what I want, handle things how I want, I can leave early if I want, I can delegate mindless work, I can take vacation whenever I want. It's not that bad.
In my opinion, any job is not enjoyable, but as far as being comfortable, my current job is very comfortable.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

In on 9-5 cubie life. Worked 7:30-6:30 5 days a week for a year **** was brutal. Would rather just be in a easy desk job where I have time to pursue my passions (making music, art, fukin bishes) after work

From what I understood, he is saying a lot of people for whom 9-5 life is destroying them day by day will never actually find something they enjoy because they are too afraid to change or try.
There is nothing wrong with 9-5 and that is not the point. If you enjoy it then you can be happy. This is not about bashing one lifestyle, this is about daring to pursue or change if you are unhappy.

I think the biggest issue is people settle with a job they don't like, and surround themselves by debts/obligations that traps them in that job.
Find something you enjoy or don't mind doing for 40hrs a week. And make sure your debts/expenses are well managed within your income. Less stress overall and life is more enjoyable.

If it fails and you lose everything you own, then you go back to a 9-5 making less money then you did previously, in debt, and with nothing. the risk doesn't bother me in the slightest because to me the biggest risk is staying at a 9-5 job that i hate. this business isn't super new to me either because i have been working with it in some capacity for around 6 months now, and the business itself has been around for nearly a year at this point.

Coming from a guy who makes GREAT money and works his ass off, (not trying to brag srs) I would kill to be able to settle for a 9-5 job, live almost paycheck to paycheck, have tons of time off every night/all weekend, cook good/different fresh meals every day, wake up when its light out, spending all my extra money on going out and having fun, retire like normal at 65 and live fairly comfortably til I die, etc etc etc
I would LOVE that. Most of my friends have that life and they fukking love their lives and are always having fun. Something in my brain doesnt allow me to do that. I always have to be different. I work 75-90 hours a week at 2 jobs, all my wages and profits get re-invested into real estate. I own and MANAGE 5 rentals currently. all of my "free" time is spent making repairs, finding tenants, paperwork, etc. All of this on top of trying to maintain a great physique, I meal prep every meal, make it to the gym 5-6 days a week, etc.
I guess where im going with this is, 9-5 > 4:30am-8:30pm... If im not close to retiring by age 35, I might kill myself.
srs.
yes srs, but I will be retired before 40

Commute plus dead end 9-5 jobs are rot status. Data entry? Call centers? Then yes I totally agree with JRE... I work 7-2:30 in tech and life's good
