Nice to see him lifting at least and it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

So...? How old/tall/heavy were you at the time? This means nothing without context. 5'6 150 lbs? 5'10 180 lbs? 6'1 210 lbs? Etc...

Plus, we don't know anything about his training or lifestyle (or yours). Just that he's 40 years old and definitely seems out of shape otherwise.

That looked like a half squat. His legs look out of position and his knees buckle inwards.

Could get a untrained underweight kid to a 300lbs squat in a few months with linear progression doing it 3x a week eating some food especially with knee sleeves and belt

I hope for everyone’s sake that you’re not taking beginning lifters and making them squat 3x a week.

Very believable, novices with average genetics can squat 225 x5 in 2 months, and within 3 could definitely hit 300 for a single with knee sleeves and a belt with average form like donald jr.

I assume you’re referring to Starting Strength and SL5x5. Have a look and then realize why none of those programs promote longevity in strength training. Enjoy your L5 compression goals of 2018.

Are you really trying to say full body 3x a week is bad for longevity? Go speak with any college strength and conditioning coach trying to get their athletes as strong as possible, only becomes bad for longevity if bad form is being used, programs such as these have been successful for decades. Makes a novice lifter get EFFICIENT at a movement really quick. I mean maybe if you have some sort of medical condition or are eating under 1k cals a day and aren't sleeping it may go along with your agenda.

Detach from your own poor strength standards.

Guessing you'd chuck a beginner on a bro split, smash their legs once a week right babe?
