Hulk Hogan is a good example

he feels being overtanned is so important he even insists on oiling his own daughters rear end with that tanning lotion when sunbathing at the pool. SMFH

though the wrestling world says Hogan may've actually developed that orange skin by staying in the wrestling spotlight too damn long

I stopped caring about my tan when I realized how much damage it actually does to you. Before I would intentionally take my shirt off outside to even out the tan but I don't give af anymore. Rocking that forearm farmers tan heavy now.

If you wanna look like an oompa loompa in 15 years go ahead.
Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.

Weird how itd be considered attractive.

You are fairly right

Not sure why itd be attractive. Maybe because it signifies youre active instead of lazy? I.e. out in the sun as opposed to indoors

But with tanning beds thats not even true anymore

He's an example of taking it too far. Those are the extremes. I know people who look horrific because they won't limit their time in the sun. There is nothing wrong with some sun exposure as long as you're smart about it. Wear sunscreen, limit time in sun, stick to the earlier hours when the sun isn't as intense, etc.

15-30 minutes of sun is all you need.

It also depends if your skin is made to tan. If you can tan easily, it’s safer to tan than someone who is naturally pale like me. Dat dere Scandinavian genetics prevent me from tanning properly.

Pale people tend to age better though than people who drown in the sun

I know people like you that will casually say "I have never been sunburned lol" and they look great. I have also seen people legit 21 years old that have the forehead wrinkles/smile lines/crows feet of someone in their mid 30s. Insanity.

Agree 100%. I look so much better ever since I became a sunscreen freak, and wish I never tanned earlier in my life. Especially the combo of pale skin, blue eyes, dark hair. Looks good.

you dont really have a choice but to defend being tan from the sun since you work out in it. In reality, if your european, for the most part, getting tan is not a good idea.

This. The sun CAN dry out your skin a bit (which is what actually will cause the wrinkling as an affect, not the actual sun itself), but if you drink enough water-which you should be doing anyway- you really don't have anything to worry about. The sun has so many benefits.

Life's too short to be pale, it absolutely makes you more attractive in 90% of cases. It also definitely makes a physique look leaner and more muscular

It's so bizarre living in a culture where people are so obsessed with retaining their youthful glow yet willing destroy their skin from sunbathing in U.V death rays.

Yea I'm a pale dude. I remember some stupid ass whore asking me whether I was sick or something because I looked so pale. This demonstrates how stupid people really are.
I couldn't care less if other people decide they want to tan or not, but OP does have a point that the norm for society seems to be that being exposed to the sun is the way to go without respect for other people

f.e. if you don't want to take your lunchbreak sitting in the sun you're being negative (even if you have skintype I), summerfestivals don't provide sheltered areas unless you alienate yourself from the actual festival, ...

You guys overhype the dangers, it increases your chance of skin cancer by 70% but than just means 0.17% rather than 0.1%, im willing to take that risk, even if you get skin cancer its very treatable if you catch it early.

Being pale and getting burnt here and there is probably worse than just having a solid tan that protects you anyway

pasty white bois on damage control

there's a difference between being exposed to the sun for a while (getting all the pros, tan, energy, dat dere vitamin gains) and sunbathing 4 hours a day like Stacy does

also, not everyone is a ginger goblin, some of us get the golden mediterranean tan with very little exposure

You're right, I should have referred to U.V's as aesthetics death rays because they destroy youthful glow much faster than smoking, drinking, poor diet, etc. (srs)

Wear a spf20 sunscreen on my face every day crew but thats it. I’d rather have a good time out in the sun, playing beach volleyball with a group of hbbs, going for a run along the shoreline, than be some recluse who has to stay in the shade all the time and apply his spf 100 every 15 minutes

Besides, whether you are in risk of developing skin cancer or not from the sun is like 90% predetermined by your genetics and not the sun exposure itself.
