FWIW I think the current gt350 is a WASTE of money. The cross plane crank is more trouble than it's worth. The limiting factor in the design of the motor is not the crank, and actually putting in a cross plane crank introduced a new limiting factor. It's a gimmick and i can't take the platform seriously because of it. Ford HAD to do something to distinguish it from the GT yet they couldn't tone down the GT because the other pony cars were on their heels or ahead.

The GT350 should be Ford's 1LE package, and it shouldn't be 20k more. Unfortunately, there are masses of baby-boomer fan boys who are waaaay more into the "heritage' of a badge instead of the performance of a platform. They can't see the forest for the trees.

Anything over 55k is vette with a blower territory. There's no point in considering any GT350 or GT500.

Corvettes are nice I'll admit. But they are for mid life crisis balding fat men.

Mustangs are for soccer moms or mid 30's dad bod "bros" that wear affliction t-shirts and bad religion jeans.

Subarus are for teenage girls and boys with stupid parents. They always have exhausts and COBB tuning stickers and none of them can actually drive. Subarus sound like chit and they are a dime a dozen. I'm pretty sure their bottom end can only handle 450-500 ish hp without having to be fully built.

Can look pretty good depending on paint finish and rims.

Heavy muscle car and a pure gasoline chugler. Lot's of power and noise.

Prefer an M3 though.

I wouldn't waste money on any Japanese car except a gtr but the new wrx's have become more "mature" looking. My next door neighbor has one. It's slow as chit though. And he said its stage 2. I had an 06 wrx that was stage 1. That was way faster than the new wrx. Good cars though. But jap cars these days are so boring. V8 all day.

I agree for the most part but definitely wouldn't call the cross plane a gimmick. It's a cool engine and the power band looks like a lot of fun. I do think they could've done a lot more to distinguish the GT350. I agree it is also way too much. Pricing on the GT500 isnt horrible but again, as you said, vette just does it all better.

Was looking at these and ended up finding an older vette with similar performance, leather interior, targa glass roof for like 10k less. And I'm saying all this with Mustangs easily being my favorite 2+2 ponycar. I also somewhat think Mustangs keep going up and up in price, which is disappointing. Think the Bullitt is 45k+, which just seems nuts for what the Mustang, I think, should be.

I also really dislike the lack of Mustangs ever using a sunroof, but I know that's what the brand is.

That's surprising since the new ones make a decent amount more power with basic mods. It probably feels slow as **** because the wrx has not progressed much at all performance wise in those 10+ years like other cars have.

Oh yeah the new fa20dit is the future for Subaru but the stock tune blows. And the WRX gearing blows. Maybe that's why my 06 felt faster because it was the 5 speed. His car is a 6 speed with really close gears. So his 1st maxed out is like 28mph lol. Its really chitty. He has to wind it in 1st every time just to keep up with traffic.

My car at 28mph is like 2100rpm lol. I love my car.

Yeah I heard that was the major complaint with those cars. But idk how his car is stage 2 and it's still slow lol. Maybe because its summer time? It sounds like a neon srt4. Doesnt sound like my old wrx.

Probably has proper headers on it before the turbo. A lot of the warble is just horribly mismatched runner lengths combined with the timing of the cylinders. I am not really impressed with anything subaru since 2006-09, but everything is laying down 12 sec timeslips now stock from SUVs to family sedans. 14 sec rice boxes aren't cutting it in 2018. They can't even turn as well as the pony cars now. SAD. They get crushed in any event on actual road courses instead of autocross. Luckily IDGAF about dodging construction cones so that's not a priority for me.

Quick for a street car is now low 11 to high 10's in the 1/4. If you show up to my local track running anything slower than 11s then they assume you've never came before LOL.

Still love the turbo AWD cars, though.

I think you're under-selling the motor. I've been in one (not driven) and it really is something to behold. In a modern age of 7000rpm turbo motors, a 8250 N\A motor really stands out.

In terms of price to performance, yeah a C6 z06 with a blower probably wins out, but it isn't always about that. There's a reason why Porsche sells a ****load of Caymans even through they're vastly underpowered to their competition. You can pay 80 grand and only get 300 horsepower.

18gt is 7500 rpm limit and can bet safely to 8k rpm with a tune. Some people change out the OPG, which is different in the voodoo motor IIRC. As of 18, they're not that different, and the 18 refresh was needed for Ford to stay up to snuff.

Most GT350 racing teams swap back to cross plane for multiple reasons.

C7 corvettes(which can be had reliably at 55k) pretty much win every US track race against gt350s,(which are egregiously marked up from 55k by dealers) with some exceptions. The GT350 does well considering it's the s550 chassis, but there's not really any magical performance advantage that it has in it's class albeit handling or power.

The old subie sound you miss came from the unequal length headers from the old EJ block. The new FA block has equal length headers. better for efficiency and power, less so for exhaust note

Unlike the Hellcat at least the engine is made in the USA and not Mexico. I'm not sure what else of the car is, but guessing it isn't Canada, also like the Hellcat.

If I'm buying an American car, I'd prefer it be made in the US and not Canada and Mexico. But that's just me.

Test drove a 350 at a Carmax. While the sound was intoxicating driving around, it's just a lot of money (Relative of course) to pony up for a mustang.

Yeah that's what I remember but I thought it was the sti that had that but it was the other way around. But come to find out the sti still is rocking the old ej engine. Love the way they sound. But the engine is ancient. With ringland issues right?

Either way it's a good car, practical but too slow for my taste. Even sti's are slow. I was looking for a daily and I was watching some sti videos. Even bolt on sti's I'm watching the speedo and it accelerates slow lol.

I got spoiled from v8 power lol

It's a flat plane crank, not a cross plane crank. Why is it more trouble than it's worth? I get that it may be a gimmick because a little economy inline 4 has a flat plane crank, but if Ferrari uses them in their V8s, what's the real argument against it? The reason people pay more for them is because they are limited production cars. Anyone in 10 years will be able to find a used 2018 Mustang GT in whatever color they like with their choice of options, but GT350s will probably be scarce. Look at the 03/04 Mustang Cobras STILL going for a decent about of money and still a car that with bolt ons will give most modern sports cars a run.

The last GT500 was in 2014 and came with 662hp, which was the most powerful production V8 at the time, starting at $55k. How is that a massive disappointment for the money? A Corvette with a blower is not $55k, but rather $80k.

I was just going based on the MSRP of both cars. If you can really get a Z06 with 1lz for $67k, then that's awesome. I love vettes, but saying the GT500 was a massive disappointment for the money is definitely a stretch.

When cars race bikes, they are almost never from a dig lol. People take them on the highway and go from a roll, 60-150 etc. In which, like my car, and bikes (mostly liter bikes) only need to change gears twice in that MPH range. That's what i did when i got my license, was max out the bikes i first got. Starting from a chitty ninja 250. It was stupid me doing that, doesn't mean i was skillful. I had just got my M license.

In a car, you actually have to control it as well. When you punch the throttle, you have to worry about the rear end getting loose.And the more power your car has, the worse it can be. Then you still have to worry about getting it sideways when you shift. These roads aren't prepped for these shenanigans.
You literally took all of my valid talking points, discredited them, and then used them as an argument as to why it takes skill to race cars more than bikes...

But it's pretty fukin funny that none of you can see the striking similarities between an early 2000s civic and modern day wrx's. They are both riced the fuk out and they both sound like chit and almost all of them are owned by children who don't even know how to drive.
