How about the divorce laws in 1988? Are they the same as they are today? ( honest question)
Marriage rates are going down, people are getting married later because everyone (man and woman) overvalue a high level degree, and put off connection in order to complete that degree.

I see it all the time, these older couples, wringing their hands, hoping the IVF works, praying the miscarriage doesn’t happpen, all because they waited a bit too long. Most of them weren’t married.

Add to that the fact that online dating sets people up as replaceable set prices, and social media deludes men and women into thinking they are instant celebrities, and you can see why DATING let alone marriage, is an obstacle for our generation of youth.

It sucks on both sides, man or woman, old or young.

Give us some wisdom Clive. How do we navigate in this current climate?
Yes yes yes. Preach!
My granny doesn't even understand the internet much less tinder. I explained to her what online dating was a few years ago, and she was stunned. She doesn't even understand the social dynamics of today and she's pretty smart. I really do hope she will be able to see me get married one day.

The internet really has changed us.

Find someone that you can have fun with, and get along with... that’s why being friends with someone before sex is sometimes best when seeking out a relationship.

My parents are in their 50s, and like 95% of the couples I see their age just seem like they DGAF about each other. Like zero affection, nagging, openly talking about "X good looking person I saw" in front of their spouse - like they don't give a chit. A couple of them in that age range end up mutually cheating on each other and they're both cool with it. It's not like they're bitter about it, it's more like "K, this marriage is over in all but name, but I can't afford to get angus raped in court after 20 years of marriage, so I'll keep providing for you Mrs. Sloot as long as you don't file for divorce." Cheaper to keep her, ya know. Like I know a lot of old poor white people, and pretty much none of them actually seem happy with their marriage.

I'm not saying going redpill crew and staying single forever is the right answer, because the guys I've seen stay single for decades and decades get LEGIT ****ed in the head from it, but I think people frankly get bored of each other over 30+ years, and it's kind of hard not to.

we all talk about the divorce statistic, but what % do you get to if you add people who don't get divorced but are unhappy in their marriage? fuark.

i have no problem with long-term monogamous relationships. fukk the same gal for your whole life if you want. the problem i have is getting the state involved. it fukken jinxes it. long-term relationships without marriage are like playing a game on hardcore mode, especially if you don't live together.

the implied threat is: "go ahead and fukk with me. i'll just block your number." no moving out, no separating finances, no fukken bullchit. just stay in your fukken lane or i will disappear. your actions now have instant negative repercussions. mind = blown

the result? people fukken behave and the only thing that keeps you together is mutual affection.

wow, what a novel concept.

.
Was going to say this. I've been married a long time but I'm also an objective person. Although I love my wife I can see how divorce would be so easy for either of us.

Another thing is not to solicit male opinions when it comes to marriage. We are more likely than not on cruise control when it comes to the relationship, which is why it seems to be common for guys to say "I thought everything was good" when they are handed divorce papers. They they scramble at the last minute to salvage the marriage: going on dates, bring home flowers, going to counseling, etc.

Another thing we have to manage is pre-menopause and menopause. Look it up, and you will see why statistically, women are usually the instigators of divorce in their 40s/50s at a time when men are set to chill-mode.

I can see the signs of pre-menopause in my own wife and it is not pretty. rough ride ahead in the next several years I'm sure. At least I'm aware

this. i've seen it with my own parents. when i was a kid, they were deeply in love. we did everything as a family. my mom started going through menopause and my dad started getting more frustrated because of what she was becoming. he ended up cheating on her and now they are on the brink of divorce, both at 50 years old.

even though i typically blame my dad for cheating, sometimes i look at what has happened and feel for him. imagine how lost you would be if the person you originally married was no longer the same, to the point where your world was spinning in the complete opposite direction.

I've met old couples that still had a spark between them. They also came from a time where marriage was highly valued.

Whether we want to admit it or not, the degeneration of marriage culture affects how we view divorce or cheating. In the US it's obviously not that big a deal to do either.

Most women are feminine and feminine energy is about nurture and affection, if she can't do the minimum (same like a man can't fix problems) it's time to move on.

i see it all the time. old couple holding hands and walking on the waterfront.

but have also seen plenty of elderly couples where the lady is brow-beating the old dude in public or being insultingly condescending (as recompense for him supporting her for 50 years)

They should be fine to bang. When you get emotionally involved with them is when you should watch yourself. My wife would have mild PMS and airhead moments when she was on her monthly. I knew she was going to start her period a couple of days before she knew based on this recurring pattern.

Since the summer of this year mood swings became elevated. Things I've done before that would piss her off now set her off. September was a bad month for her where she was close to giving away our two dogs, complaining about our son, complaining about me, etc. And not complaining in a way that welcomes conversation and discussion.

Where once I could tell her period was coming due to slight changes in mood, some irritability and airhead comments, it is now looking to be different indicators. Now it starts with agitated behavior, more nagging, looking for an argument (if not with me, then my son or the dogs), then a short period of normalcy before any little thing triggers her again.

Two days ago, she was laying into my son for not reading his school book (6th graders are reading The Blind Side btw 0_o) and me for letting him play on his laptop. Reality: he was doing his math homework online which took 45 min to complete. Once finished, he takes his book to read an hour before bed. I can hear her nagging him about something for about 10 min from downstairs. I yell up to leave him alone so he can read. She comes down and sits next to me on the couch with this look on her face:

I call that the crazy lady eyes look. Before she can start I tell her that I'm in no mood for her drama and I am not talking to her until that crazy look is gone, and if she didn't believe me to go look in the mirror.

I'd say 98% of attractive women under 35 these days can't even make the simplest things.

She comes down and sits next to me on the couch with this look on her face:

I call that the crazy lady eyes look. Before she can start I tell her that I'm in no mood for her drama and I am not talking to her until that crazy look is gone, and if she didn't believe me to go look in the mirror.

lol I feel sorry for people who feel locked in. Thought they're probably doing it for the families at that point.

Last thing you wanna hear is grandma and grandpa are divorcing at 70 years old

when you find the right one, it's never a feeling of "putting up" with them; you actually WANT them there

I think people let lust blind them to the reality, hard to build love out of a flawed situation from the start.

Sorry bro..I dont fully agree with this. Marriage has its ups and downs. You can have a great marriage and go through durations of not wanting your partner around and putting up with them.

To be honest I really hate it when people put marriage at either extreme (awful/great). The reality is that almost every marriage will swing between the two and there will be long durations of "meh" in the middle. When you boil it down, sometimes you have good years and sometimes you have bad years. Anyone telling you their marriage is great 100% of the time is either bold face lying or delusional....

In the end marriage is work. Most people dont have it in them. Thats why cheating, divorce, dead bedrooms and "staying in it for the kids" are a thing..

Yep that's all it takes.

Also a man is not husband material unless he makes $200k+, is fit, has at least a Bachelors degree and ultimately a 7+ inch dikk.
