In reality a lot of blacks in ivy leagues are African, who have nothing to do with this program but sure make them part of this cause you’re waiting for an excuse to attack blacks and higher education. Clown
By definition, affirmative action is unfair and discriminates against White and Asian people. It also means many Black people wind up in places they don't belong on a merit basis. I'm not sure how that's racist, that's just the truth.

LOW income has NOTHING to do with success.

As i said my HS was poor as ****

Our top 10 in graduating class was was a mix of immigrants and black people.

-Our Valedictorian was ASIAN (one of my good friends)
-I was 3rd in class WHITE immigrant
-My friend's BLACK wife was #4 in class
-My BLACK friend was #8

All of the above went to college and have 60-70k+ jobs and all of them are doing fine.

Race doesnt matter the fact that we were poor as **** doesnt matter it was all hard work , determination, and discipline that made us successful.

LOW income doesnt matter , often times my parents were so poor that they could not pay rent on time. I had to get a job at 17 while still in HS at Best Buy and my whole paycheck would go toward my and my parents bills.

Also its important to note i also have a sister and she sucked in school would skip school barely graduated hs never went to college and been working at restaurants as server her whole life so success doesnt even matter when it comes to same household. Its all about the person.

What are you even saying? That there are intelligent people in all races? Yes, no one is disputing that. Your reply didn't address what he was saying, which is that Black people have an unfair advantage in that affirmative action allows the unqualified among them to succeed at the expense of more qualified Whites, regardless of their lack of merit

Misleading title.

Think about it, the school actually is teaching a valuable skill. They are teaching how to fake it until you make it while manipulating the system by utilizing policy. You can get quite far just by being able to sound like you know what you're talking about.

They know that the colleges have to accept a certain amount of minority students especially if they have the credentials. They use the typical PC terms such as the test scores being low as the system rigged against them. They know the tricks of the trades on how to write essays and such to help them get in. They might even be paying people off?

Once again those who are hailed as helping the poor and disadvantaged turn out to just be exploiting them the whole time.

I feel bad for the kids. They were actually stepping it up and trying to make it, and believed someone who they thought knew what they were doing. Imagine the one's that actually got to one of these high end colleges and then found out how under tier they are?

I was just stating that low income has NOTHING to do with success which is a big reason why people say affirmative action is needed because they point to black communites often being poor and thats why affirmative action is needed.

I am saying that affirmative action is not needed ...even a person who is from poor upbringing will succeed if they put their mind to it and the color of their skin and income of their parents does not matter.

If you read my previous posts in this thread i agree that affirmative action gives black and hispanics unfair advantage and is completely unfair and straight up racist toward asian people..

43.5% of Harvard students are White. However, ethnically Jewish and Arab people are categorized as White. So are some Latinos. 25% of Harvard is ethnically Jewish, so even without subtracting any Arabs or White identifying Latinos, Harvard is only 18.5% White. A vast underrepresentation compared to merit.

Because we lower the bar for colored people? Why would affirmative action exist that unless we thought colored people were less able? I personally believe colored people are just as capable as any other race, unfortunately Democrats don't agree.

Wouldn’t there be more students coming forward? Wouldn’t Harvard and other schools stop accepting kids from that school?

Ok, the the girl says it happened to her, great, why didn’t she show her transcript? That’s basic journalism. Big red flag that they had zero proof. And lol at calling his speech a violent outburst haha

im a liberal and i tend to agree that affirmative action based purely on race is weirdly reverse-racist. but i do agree that colleges/schools need to account for poverty / income / hardship factors somehow - maybe just make it based on income?

1) Correction: You aren't talking about affirmative action, we are. The OP is about the precense of unintelligent Black people at Harvard. This precense is only possible because of affirmative action. It's quite easy then to see why we're talking about affirmative action.

2) While you're wrong about affirmative action benefiting White people, it doesn't matter. Even if it did benefit White people, it would still be unfair and unmeritocratic. It would still result in unqualified Black people being present at elite institutions like Harvard.

3) NPC meme may apply to Right wingers who have gotten their ideas from Fox their whole life. That describes very few young people on the Right. Most of us were liberals or moderates at some point, before we were exposed to data online that made us think "Huh, guess I was wrong."

Have you not read my post above? Income/hardship has nothing to do with success!

Infact i would argue that rich kids typically have a disadvantage because everything is handed to them on a silver platter. Plenty of examples where rich kids turn out to be total ****ups. Why do you think rich people like Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, and Mark Z plan on giving their wealth to charity after they die.

Liberals of peace...nobody should be handed anything in life..people should work for everything they get.

The article is much more informative than the video. This guy is a real piece of work.
In 2013, Mr. Landry was sentenced to probation and attended an anger management program after pleading guilty to a count of battery.

Instead, he calls himself a “drill sergeant” or “coach,” and asks children to kneel before him to learn humility, for five minutes at most, Mr. Landry said.

That is not how the students have experienced it. Tyler Sassau, Mr. Sassau’s brother, said he can still feel the humiliation and smell the stench on his clothes from kneeling last year on a bathroom floor for nearly two hours.

“I wasn’t going to get up without asking him because if I did, I could’ve got something worse,” he said. “I could barely stand when I got up.”
