This is being directed by Guy Ritchie. He's been hit/miss lately. His King Arthur movie was bad. I liked Man From Uncle. I loved his Sherlock Holmes movies. I dunno about this...
Will he make this movie with his usual flash-pan visual style? I really don't think his style fits with Disney...
I do have trust in Jon Faveau(Elf, Iron Man, The Jungle Book) doing Lion King.

In theory it could be potentially ok in the acting sense of the role.
I could imagine him playing an eccentric type genie character playing into his experience from having kids and playing a goofy mystic role.
Probabaly at that age where kids are growing up and miss playing that entertaining dad role
Could be deep but could be lame as well too lol

Will Smith is good idea to copy Genie's comedy, but I am not shure if translating Genie's Looney Toons-style humor to life action is a good idea in the first place.
I think he will look better in motion.
