Similar thing happened in Nigeria except with natural gas IIRC. They had these huge bags to carry the gas, no idea what they did with it when they got it. 200+ died.

That was going on for hours . They were filming in the daylight, and it wasn’t till night fall that it happened.

I’ll bet anything that it was some moron lighting a up cig that ignited it.

The amount of time that went on without an explosion likely made people feel safer about going in to get more. Some people probably went 2-3x to fill up.

Very possible . I was in disbelief at the beginning. There’s no way you’d catch me within hundreds of feet of that mess .

What kind of idiot would jump into a hole with dozens of other people where gas is geysering to the sky? I wonder which tradie jumped in with a cig.

Also, how many blocks do you run before you decide to stop, drop and roll?

Assuming this was before the fire, it seems like leaving the line open caused the problem.

Looks like negligence to just allow it to stay open and not close the area.

In countries with low birth rates, you have to import more and more people to artificially suppress wages. Otherwise the pyramid scheme that is economic growth will collapse. Guess what kind of jobs these people will be doing in the US?

I assume it was, I think it may have been a case of "We are not going to be able to move these people without causing chaos and its too dangerous to send even more military personnel in there, pull them back from the leak" Then again I have no idea if they were in the process of isolating the line up and downstream and it was a case of waiting for it to de-pressure, still waiting to find that info.

I don’t think the government would give a sht they are terribly corrupt and selfish. Not sure what they could do either way, we’re talking about a third world country, not Sweden lmao.

I’d rather have an immigrant who applied and waited their turn for sometimes nearly a decade to have their chance to get a visa and eventually become a citizen over a bunch of ppl who can just waltz on in.

It’s terribly tragic but to not understand the physics behind gasoline, a pretty common substance anywhere in the world, it’s properties are well known and I know I would be running away not to the geyser of fuel!

Stupid but sad too. I live in third world country and I know how life can be hard so these people probably risked it for easy money. Still stupid though but I am glad they at least get to experience Christmas one last time less than a month ago.

I don't know how else to make that clear to anyone with a functioning brain. If someone jaywalks, the answer to that isn't 10 years in prison. Do you understand the level of consequence for the action? Poor people took advantage of a pipeline that was gushing gasoline. It was gushing so it was getting wasted anyway, they were filling up cans to use. It happens because poor people look for free stuff when they get a chance, that's what happens.

Obviously trying to explain this to you is a lost cause but whatever.
But you keep ignoring the Darwin award point of the discussion.

If I intentionally tried to play with a wild lion the same way I mess around with my house cat, and the lion mauled me to death, would you say I kind of deserved it, since I was clearly asking for bad things to happen by being a complete idiot? I am guessing your sympathy would be limited in such an instance.

These people tried stealing gas out of a broken pipeline, and a pretty obvious consequence went down, just like my lion hypothetical example. Settle down on the fake outrage bullchit.

Again, you keep missing the part about how stupid it was, the stealing bit of it completely aside. You would have to be literally retarded or from a remote island population completely undisturbed by modern civilization to not realize how painfully stupid going anywhere near a busted gas pipeline is. Hell, I would have known better than to approach that scene back when I was 5 years old, and I still wouldn't risk it to this day if you told me I'd get $1 billion just for walking up near the broken gas line and then running away, all with zero protective gear.

So yeah, for that reason, they kind of deserved it. That doesn't make it a pleasant occurence, but ffs, don't play with fire and get salty if it burns you.

Think about how far your stupid fuking logic can be extended. If an individual with Down syndrome runs into the street chasing a toy did they deserve to die by a speeding car? But Darwin, right? If an elderly with Alzheimer’s gets lost in the cold and dies did they deserve to die?

Both scenarios are using the exact same logic as your lion example - the person had poor judgement due to cognitive challenges and they suffered a terrible fate. You seem to believe only certain people deserve it, who in your mind may have the capability of assessing the situation as dangerous but didn’t. But in reality, for whatever reason, they didn’t have that capability at that time or they wouldn’t have made the decision.

Maybe when your dog runs into the street and gets hit by the car I’ll say it deserves it. It was clearly asking for something bad to happen to it by running into the street. Play stupid games?

Point out where I said either:

These aren’t passersby. These are thiefs. They steal fuel and sell it to the cartel, etc for a living.

I’m not saying they deserved the death they got but I cannot feel sorry for low iq greedy rats who rush at gushing fukkin gas.
No **** it was cut open. Who said it wasn't? 73 ****ing people (so far) died and how many injured? You're telling me all those people cut the pipe open?

No. A few people cut the pipe and the rest took the opportunity to fill up gas cans. Low IQ greedy rats? How the **** do you figure? Do any of you stupid pieces of **** understand how poverty works?

I am guessing your sympathy would be limited in such an instance.

These people tried stealing gas out of a broken pipeline, and a pretty obvious consequence went down, just like my lion hypothetical example. Settle down on the fake outrage bullchit.
What fake outrage? I'm not defending what they did dummy. I'm telling idiots in this thread who have obviously never left the country that the punishment for stealing gasoline isn't a horrible burning death and that it's not "deserved" to die that way.

Holy crap some of you are retarded.
