the police there prob isn't equipped for that kind of scenario, whereas most north american local police teams have better kit then the military

Real PoS itt. Police arrested the aussie dude within 40min and the situation was as precise as any country. Our police do carry but just in car not in open. Hell even our gun laws are changing by Monday so atleast we accept our flaws.

saying that mass shootings aren't a common occurrence in NZ to justify the sad response time is so weak. I see NZ'ers itt saying they can call the cops and sometimes not have them arrive for a whole day or take 30 minutes, definitely not 1st world standard if true.

Canada's not exactly a hotbed for mass shootings but there's no way the cops would take that long to respond to a shooting in a large Canadian city. Literally cannot comprehend how some dude can get out of his car to casually go shoot, go reload, leaving his trunk of guns on full display, and then casually just drive off.

Yes, but at Columbine they deliberately didn't enter because that was protocol in hostage situations. They wanted to ask for demands etc, they didn't expect the guys to just massacre. So now after that in these situations SWAT bust in ASAP. Also not 36 min after the start, 36 min after they got the call. Maybe a good 45. They goofed badly, heads will roll and systems will change after this.
