Fair point, but any lawyer will get that shot down real quick. Charging a suspect that killed someone while drunk driving with murder would cause more people that did that to go unpunished, since so many would skirt the charge. Ain't no way to deny that it's manslaughter though

Perhaps. Also, she was 21 and presumably just getting accustomed to the freedom of being able to drink and make choices afterwards. Studies have shown that people that started drinking earlier, under supervision, have less alcohol problems. The theory behind that being they don't binge drink and feel like they are breaking the law when under 21.

I know a chick who ran into another vehicle while drunk, blew like .18 I think.
No one was seriously hurt but she still only got like a few hours of community service and was driving again in 30 days and just had to take a few months of classes once per week.
Legal limit here is .08.

For st Patty’s day, you pretty much are drinking the entire day from 8-9 am until 9pm, or as long as you can. Used to do it with friends after college but we would take trains or lived within walking distance of the bars. No way in hell I could drive a car after that, you can barely walk straight. Thank god I never killed anyone the few times I drove drunk af in college. A few times I was so drunk that I could barely keep my foot on the brake. So so so stupid, don’t really drink much anymore and always have an uber to call it I need to get home or to my hotel. Haven’t done anything that stupid in Atleast 10 years.
If you are not willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary
