As far as where OP's bro lives? Apple Valley and Victorville? I drive through that area sometimes on my way from LA to Vegas, and would never live there. It is in the middle of no where, in a desert like area, with poor people and lots of hispanics around. Nothing like what much of the rest of CA is like. It is like living in the worst city in FL and saying all of FL is like that. It just isn't.

I drove down the 405 last week to golf at Torrey Pines near San Diego and the scenery is so beautiful and even though it was a Weds-Thursday, San Diego was hopping and full of great bars, restaurants, hotties etc.

Lived in Sacramento, CA for 15 years. I can confirm, it was hot asf + just as poverty as you say. San Fran is in an even worse condition, though. At least Sacramento doesn't (didn't) have any designated chitting streets.

Bro you could not have been more wrong about literally every point you made. There are only 5 notable cities/counties in the entire US with plastic bag fees, it most definitely is unheard of. I don't know what kind of chithole town you live in, but in Atlanta the girls are damn fine. And gas being 25% more expensive in poor rural CA compared to midtown Atlanta is pretty ridiculous. And you absolutely can laugh at their home prices since Atlanta is one of the most desirable places to move in the country and you can still get a home in a nice neighborhood in the city for like 350-400K. You could never do that in California.

California... phenomenal place to visit, but I'd never want to live there full-time. Thats why I picked Salt Lake City... easy access to all places West-coast, but in a more conservative, smaller, cleaner area. If it weren't for the overwhelming Mormon majority here I'd want to settle down for life.

Same in San Diego. Tons of just disgustingly hot girls and competition is fierce. If you see a ridiculously hot girl it's almost not even worth bothering because they probably have a half dozen silver spoon Chad's driving R8's as their daily commuter vehicle hitting on her on a daily basis who can take her back home to his cliffside estate.
