This is true.

When I have a **** month (like this month) revenue is cut in half due to some market issues. I've been concerned just because its not large amount of funds coming in every month as usual. I've got to enjoy the sun a bit more, relax and its been nice. Still back of my head I'm concerned that my time isn't being used to generate income like it could be. Plenty in the bank that I could have it stay like this indefinitely and still be fine. But I still want to see it grow vs stagnate.

These people care about money obviously but they care about building something just as much. The thought of sitting on a beach and drinking margaritas every day in retirement is hell to them. They need to be doing something.

Also, as you climb so does your social circle. It’s not like these multi millionaires are hanging out with average misc joes. They hang out with other multi millionaires and you bet your ass they still want to compete with them just like people here compete with those in their social circle instead of someone who shops at wal mart.

It isnt about greed, it isn’t about wanting more money. That’s cope from poor people. The second you stop growing is the second you start dying. The thought of “I’ll make x money and then stop and enjoy life” is absolutely pathetic and setting yourself up to be miserable.
This is all true. Especially the second growth stops you feel like its the end. So much truth.

Hell, I would try to create the best gym on the planet. Dumbbells that went up to 300lbs, cable lat pulldowns that went up to 500lbs, etc.

This, every doctor/lawyer/banker/business owner I have met can not take a holiday for longer than 1-2 weeks. They're always itching to be back into the grind, it drives them nuts to be doing nothing at all. Maybe they're workaholics or really love what they do, same thing really

I do not think they're all doing it for the money, the money is only a byproduct of their addiction to excellence in their field. And money is a great benchmark, it's a quantitative value that informs your progress daily.

Takes more than just a few, or even 10 million to be able to afford the lifestyle of a billionaire. If you worked your ass off to make a million, you sure as fuk probably have ambitions of owning a 100 foot megayacht and multiple mansions around the world.

They all mischaracterized everything I have just said.

They think, including you probably, is that sitting on your ass every day and being fat is what I ultimately meant in the OP when it's completely not.

Having a job and going to work is a hustle in itself whether you admit or not. You're stressed everyday and exhausted after the end of each of day thinking you have accomplished something, which is good, but you went through an exhausting, disconcerting day just to get through everything. You juggle a lot. You worry that if you don't do this you will lose something. The irony in this thread is they don't understand and unable to grasp that I am just specifically talking about the millionaires. People who are already set for life and not the doctors, engineers etc that are hardly or not millionaires at all, well not all.

lol negged.

It's about wanting to leave a legacy, making your mark, and actually getting the most out of life. You know what millionaires want?
To be billionaires. My millionaire boss said "It's never enough once you actually get it." To the above he actually didn't have money to start with or a college education.

I agree with your premise. I’m still trying to find that happy medium where I’m headed towards becoming wealthy but also enjoying the journey with my family and loved ones. I’m hoping I’ll get there sooner than later.

You're not considering that fact that some people genuinely enjoy/look forward to the grind, the exhaustion, the work, and do not necessarily care for the final product (ie Money) of their labour.

You're presenting hard work as a sacrifice and something to despise. You and a lot of people in the world may feel this way, but I can assure you that not everyone holds a similar view. For some people the satisfaction of succeeding outweighs the daily stress of working more than they need to.

You have a set of assumptions that not everyone in this world agrees with

I put the disclaimer in there for autists like you. Notice how nobody else said anything, because they read the disclaimer.

Money gets to be a scorecard for these people. When you get millions of dollars, you're still trying to keep up with the Joneses, it's just the these Joneses drive Bentleys.

They'll keep grinding for more money, and even screwing people over to get money that they don't even need. Look at Bernie Madoff for example. For these people, it's no longer about the money itself. It's about the points on the board.

It's not a question of enough, pal. It's a zero-sum game: somebody wins, somebody loses. Money itself isn't lost or made, it's simply, uh, transferred from one perception to another. Like magic.

Your disclaimer doesn’t absolve you from people saying something negative about your post, idiot. You mock people for putting money in the bank yet you suggest one Avenue is to completely dump it on one stock. Even if was just an example, it was an idiotic one worth noting.

Some people get a rush from seeing their business continue to grow, you can't get that from traveling. It gives them a reason to wake up in the morning. Bezos doesn't need to work anymore but the power that gets from owning one of the biggest business in the world & the dopamine that he receives from beating his competitors is something that you can't get from being content. It's no longer about money once you reach that stage, its about the drive to write history.

Depending on your economy and how many millions you have, bring a millionaire ain’t a big deal

Cost of living here is such that a pretty basic house in a good area is a million

Yea, but i mean when you have enough $$ for 10 lifetimes, already live the pinnacle of luxury, etc., etc.

One of the most perplexing questions to me is whether humans are altruistic or selfish

Toddlers, without being told, will inherently help an adult without being told to do so; i.e. if they drop something, the toddler will pick it up and give it to the adult to help them. Again, thats without being told to do so

As a species, humans were nomadic and travelled in groups. If you look at your body and hands you didnt develop any mechanism like an apex predator to take down prey; humans took down big game in groups

Yet here you have someone whom is already well situated going way beyond what he has to that it only extends toward taking away from other people

If you take the individualistic approach, it makes sense. The guy is just being selfish and hoarding everything

But that to me, doesnt explain how we got here through evolution

One of those is defunct and one of those seems to be the antithesis to humanity.. And im not sure which one is which

Dat dere hedonic treadmill.

It's human nature to always want more, otherwise we wouldn't have gone from caves to the moon in a few thousand years. People inherently compare themselves only to those with more; everyone else is invisible.

Someone making 50K thinks he'll feel rich at 100K.

Someone making 250K thinks he'll feel rich at 500K+.

Someone with 1M in the bank will feel rich at 2M.

Someone with 10M will feel reach at 25M+

etc. etc.

Hardwired biology.

Also the fact "millions" may not be as much as most think. $2M could theoretically generate a "safe", passive $80K/yr or so indefinitely. Nice baseline security but hardly the baller lifestyle people picture. 10M? OK now you're getting somewhere. But if you're the type of person who makes it that far, you're the type of person who will want that much more.
