The MSM is making it worse than it is? Japan just cancelled school for over a freaking month.

The big deal, as others have noted, is that, one it's easily transmittable, and two, you can be asystematic and still transmit the virus. So while you're walking around thinking you're all good, you're spreading it around. And while the mortality rate for healthy adults is low, how many healthy adults come into contact with the very young and old? Are y'all ok if your newborn has a 3-5% chance of dying because you got exposed? How about your parents or grandparents?

But yea, it's all made up by the MSM...SMH

Remember SARS? West Nile? Ebola? Zika?

This isn't a new concept of fear mongering.

Peoples lives are boring, isolated, and unfulfilling; they are looking outward for monumental events that helps them feel like are a part of something major and meaningful with the hope that they well have some semblance of a connection with the world they live in.

The media plays on our brains inability to think statistically/objectively by reporting on small events with huge implications so the average person interprets it as a major event.

The virus itself is concerning, but don't forget what events like this can do to the supply chain. Even if it were contained, it's not unreasonable to expect shortages, like during/after hurricane Sandy.

Also as it stands, the R0 of 2.5 means it is set to infect 60-80% of the world if not contained, and a 2% death rate means around 90 million deaths.

Guys, I'm shaking. I'm ****ing shaking. I never wanted to be infected with anything more than I want to be with Corona-chan. That perfect transmission rate. Those thrilling mutations. The 14 day asymptomatic incubation period.. It honestly ****ing hurts knowing that Corona-chan may never flood my lungs with her fluids, make me delirious with fever, and pass on her gift to approximatley 3.8 other indivuals. I'd do ****ing ANYTHING for the chance to get to Wuhan for some delicious bat soup. A N Y T H I N G. And the fact that I can't because of government quarantine kill-zones is quite honestly too much to ****ing bear. Why would the Wuhan Institue of Virology create something so perfect? To ****ing tantalize us? ****ing laugh in our faces?! Honestly guys, I just ****ing can't anymore. ****.

Coronavirus has an R.0 of between 4.0- 6.0 ........Spanish Flu (Which was the deadliest virus in human had an R.0 of 2.8 and circled the world twice)
Epidemologists think it cost infect at least 30% of the world's population
-It has a death rate of around 3%-5%
-20% of people get serious/critical condition needing hospital treatment

Do the Math

30% of 7 billion = 2.1 Billion infected

Around 100 million dead within a year
420 million people need hospital treatment within a year

If its not contained......

It's fascinating seeing the two camps of full retard. You have the nothing going on camp it's just the flu bro. And then you have apocalypse man here.

Remember kids the truth is somewhere in the middle. It's not just the MSM making it up and it's not SHTF.

Real numbers are R0 of 2-3%. And those under 60 only have about .2% chance of dying. Unless you have either a too weak or strong immune system.

But you don't want to get it, too much unknown so prepare like it's SHTF. But you only need a moderate two weeks worth of food.

i heard it can mutate over time, which would mean that if everyone gets it now since its almost harmless it wont do much, but if it mutates into a stronger version while everyone is infected it could suddenly kill many before we could even react

This. Exactly this....and the MSM is playing on that behavior to try and discredit Trump.

The issue I have with this virus scare is this.

It seems to me that the left, and we see it right here in this thread, is really trying to hype this up and scare people. It seems as if they are wishing for a massive outbreak all because they believe it may help remove Trump from office.

And that is truly sad. An outbreak where people get sick and possibly die because orange man bad????

Meanwhile, if you really look at the stats, you will see that so far this is a lot of hype and not much actual damage.

Compare it to the swine flu of 2009-10. Millions got sick from the swine flu. I even did. Up to 200,000 people died. That dwarfs the numbers of the Corona virus so far. Yet back then, no one was blaming Obama for it. No one said he should be impeached because of it. And no one was saying it should effect Obama's reelection chances in 2012.

Same with the few Ebola scares we have had.

But it really seems as if dems are jumping all over this particular virus and somehow tying it to Trump in a weird, fascinating, twisted way.

THAT AIN'T RIGHT.

Huh? Any potential is being tested.

It isn't like people are dying from it and not being tested.

If the virus was more rampant in the US, trust me people would be being tested at a higher level.

Spanish flu circulated in ww1 trenches. Mild cases were returned to the front lines and recovered, moderate to severe were sent to hospital where the virus became even stronger bc back then hygiene wasn’t a strong thing. Imagine being sent on a train with thousands of other sick ppl and sneezing everywhere

Then sneezing on nurses. Then nurses going home to sneez on their family. They have the strong strand of the virus bc they are dealing with the sicker people. Mild cases stayed fighting.

Also don’t compare 2020 with 1920, we have tech

Are you trying to say that

Human lives are mere statistics?

OR

Carnivorous is an anagram of coronavirus.

IDK how it will go, but if the infection and fatality rates were to be the same as Spanish flu the number of deaths would be double just due to higher total population.

Is the event being exploited to serve the causes of various interests? Sure. But those same interests would put a useful slant on any big newsworthy event. The manipulation of public sentiment doesn't make it fake news.

It has definitely added a new degree of uncertainty for myself and the other recent medical scares didn't do that at all.
