I'd advise you to be cautious then. You can get hooked on that feeling incredibly easily. It's sneaky as well. Oh, just a few grams here to amplify this situation. Oh schit, this is happening? May as well take some green to make it even more fun! Oh, are we going to see your family? Let me take a few grams of white to make me more social. You don't want it to become like that because at some point, all these activities will seem pointless unless you're on kratom dead srs. I had that happen to me in the past and was wondering wtf was going on and then I figured it out. This is why I try incredibly hard to train without it in the early AM. During a cut when I feel like I've been run over by a truck in the morning, it's so tempting, but I wouldn't want it to become an essential pre-workout supp for me. Nothing wrong with it overall, just not my thing.

But I will say one thing, coming home from a long, hard day of work, taking a big dose of red, making dinner, and lying in bed like a slob eating and watching TV while that warmth kicks in is definitely going to be something that will be hard to shake in the future.

i wondered if the pesticides used were a potential risk factor in the relatively acute CNS and hepa/nephrotoxic stuff some studies showed. But I could never find a clear answer if pesticides were even necessary because from my understanding it just kind of grows like a weed over there and its only illegal to cull it not to have the plant in your backyard

Ive taken it for years because of my low back. It doesnt work near as good as the Rxs i use to take, but i also had a chit memory then. I dont have that issue now.
The first bolded part is not correct and is redundant- agonism of the mu-opioid receptor doesn't release endogenous morphine, in fact it's the target receptor for endorphins. Mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine both agonize the mu-opioid receptor just like morphine does. It's not a pro-drug nor does the receptor behave like the way described.

As for the second part, there's a lot of folks who would disagree with you. There's also a lot of other alkoids in kratom that behave on other receptors and MOAs which can make it nasty to come off of. Kratom is what we call a "dirty drug".

That said, I don't want to distract from what I think is a very useful and much safER(not benign) drug, but I also think those who pretend it's something other than a drug aren't being honest, because it is a drug, full of consequences if used wrong

I love the stuff and will use it for as long as I can for my back injury, but I just want folks to be 100% clear about it.

It's really incredible what a good dose of a red strain will do for pain.

Helps a ton getting me to not move like an old man in the mornings.

Unfortunately I'm in brasil now and it's not nearly available as it is in the US. I put in an order for some but let's see if it arrives and is decent stuff.

tastes like chit and if I remember you have to take grams upon grams of the stuff to feel the effects, always gave me the worst nausea

I tried making tea with it once but it didn't dissolve at all

That you'll have to figure out yourself. I think most caps are usually about 600mg, so if you want to take a 3g dose you'll have to down 5 of them. They aren't huge so it shouldn't be a problem.

That said, I prefer just to mix in a bottle of water and choke it down. Not pleasant but it's easier.

Just be careful with the stuff and have discipline. Those in here claiming it's 100% benign are feeding you half truths, as are those who claim it's evil. Like any drug, you have to weigh the pros and cons and be wise.

This is the way to approach kratom. It's not a 'harmless supplement' and it's not an evil drug. Just like everything else that has psychoactive compounds in it, it must be respected. I've taken doses so large that it caused me to not be able to see straight and to sweat profusely. Be moderate in your intake. There is also a ceiling where taking multiple massive doses will do nothing more.

Well, I can understand if you have chronic pain and this is less extreme than RX pain killers, but people here in this thread are taking it just to take it, for the high. That's not good at all and no different than people abusing RX pain killers.

If you're taking it for pain, depression, anxiety, focus, motivation, then it's no different than taking a pain killer, taking an SSRI, a benzo, or ADHD meds like dextroamphetamine. All those meds are drugs.

Some people do take kratom recreationally. I'm one of them. I could function fine without it, but it just gives me that extra boost. From the people I've spoken to that take kratom, it's a more viable and relatively safer alternative to their ongoing issues. Pain is a big one. It's probably better to take kratom if it mitigates pain symptoms long term rather than an opiate.

Only if you take too much.

Overall, I'd recommend it only if you need a bit of help getting through something. Like with psychotropic medications, those are essentially just bandaids. Your issues will be there once you stop taking that substance. It could just be a good way to get you over that initial hurdle and start engaging in the behaviours that could potentially bring about some positive change. Just be smart about it.

While your tolerance does build the more you take it, for some people, you just need more. I was never able to get any benefit off 2-3 grams. I can take 10g at a time for a nice relaxing effect. Most people would puke immediately off that much. My tolerance has always been through the roof which really sucks cuz it's more expensive so I try to be reticent in my approach.

I tried it several years ago (capsule form, from a local smoke shop) after an injury and a friend suggested it for pain relief. After 3 or 4 days of taking it I had the worst case of constipation ever in my life which is normally not ever a problem for me. It was like my digestive system became totally paralyzed. I stopped taking it and it took several more days for my digestion to get back to normal. I would never ever take that stuff again. Just a warning for anyone who might try it and have the same problem.

Prepare yourself for a hell of a time when you need to bail out srs. Highly suggest you be honest with a doctor and get some supportive meds for that fun adventure...

I've been taking 6g a day for about 2 years now. The thing I love about kratom is I don't have to up my dose to feel the same effect. I literally take 2g's in the morning and it still feels the same as when I tried 2g for the first time. You gotta experiment with the stuff and find your 'sweet spot' dosage. Just 2g toss and wash works for me

that means a couple of things, your opiod receptors have already been burned out, your body does a terrible job digesting it or that you are not aware of how things change you and you need to really feel something to notice it

generally speaking your tolerance doesn't matter when addiction is at play, a guy that feels great eating 2g is gonna have an easier time coming off than a guy eating 10g that barely feels it, just be safe mayne

total amount tends to mean more than effect for most, a guy that can drink 20 drinks a night and barely be intoxicated is way worse off than a guy getting plastered off 6 every night

does the same thing painkillers and immodium do, which interestingly enough opiate addicts will take hundreds of immodium a day cause it supposedly lowers withdrawals a ton

its not unheard of of people having to go get chit surgically removed from their body because it gets so backed up from srs painkiller abuse

I got addicted to pain meds from a knee surgery, the strong kind. I won't get into the details but the withdrawals were awful, obviously. I got clean and maybe a couple years later tried kratom. I started using it on the regular then one day ran out. I experienced very similar withdrawal symptoms that the strong synthetic opiates I took caused. And it lasted for about the same time frame. I'm genuinely astonished at how many of you are in denial about kratom. Its something that shouldn't be taken every day. Its a medicine just like any other drug.

In a wise man's hands poison is medicine, in a fools hand's medicine is poison...

From here:https://americanaddictioncenters.org...atments/kratom
Kratom may work on opiate receptors in the brain much in the same manner that morphine does. In this sense, kratom withdrawal may therefore be similar to opioid withdrawal.
In addition, psychotic symptoms may occur with significant kratom dependence, which may include hallucinations, delusions, confusion, and potentially even seizures.
Depression, anxiety, insomnia, irritability, constipation, tremors, chills, sweating, lethargy, gooseflesh, nausea, headaches, weight loss, and darkening of the skin, especially the face, are also recorded as potential kratom withdrawal symptoms

I never got withdrawals from it, but I never used it consistently for months.

I'm genuinely astonished at how many of you are in denial about kratom. Its something that shouldn't be taken every day. Its a medicine just like any other drug.

In a wise man's hands poison is medicine, in a fools hand's medicine is poison...

"But no bro I'm fine I'm different I can handle it!"
This is why I get so pissed about folks on here and on the internet saying stupid things like "It's not an opiate!" And "It tells your body to make more of its own natural endorphins!" (Completely wrong and can't believe someone here said it). It's outrageously irresponsible to sugarcoat kratom. It works on the MOR receptor with a surprisingly high affinity (esp. 7-hydroxymitragynine) and has the capacity to ruin your ****ing day if used incorrectly.

So let's be adults and treat this exactly how it is. It's a WONDERFUL alternative to Rx options. It has LESS potential for abuse. But it works on the MOR (so the argument 'it's not an opiate!' to me is pretty stupid, it's like shooting someone with a rifle and saying 'I didn't use a handgun though!'). It IS addictive. It ALSO has a bunch of other alkaloids some of which work on adrenoreceptors. It is NOT benign. It IS a drug really in every sense of the word.

Spreading disinformation and coloring kratom in rainbow colors will only help this stuff get banned sooner.

Damn, didn't realise there were so many drug dependent junkies on the misc. Dabbled with phenibut for two years, once every fortnight down to once a month but like any good drug, it comes with side effects and diminishing returns.

Never tried Kratom though so interested, might give it a go during this weird lockdown period.

I'll give this a watch. I went three months without caffeine but honestly, I prefer life with a coffee or two. Love the taste and feels good. Especially in this cold country. Didn't really notice a difference but I only drink two cups a day. I did have a week of headaches though when I stopped.

I mean, the description in this vid already says he was a heavy user, so no surprise that stopping benefitted him. That's like drinking a bottle of whiskey a night and it being a revelation that not drinking alcohol anymore benefits you.

I've never tried it before but I was interested in trying it. I've tried phenibut before and didn't feel much from it. I heard kratom and phenibut is a really good combo.

I went and got a couple different bags of capsules at a local shop today because of this thread.

What am I supposed to be experiencing? How much should I take?

I have

Red maeng da
Green Hulu
And Bali

I took 10 caps of the red (I’m pretty sure it’s .5grams each. Might be .6) about at hour ago.

I mean I think I feel something, but it is pretty subtle. Should I take more?
