In the NFL Haloti Ngati is roughly the size of your average nose tackles, maybe a little bit bigger.

Then you can even get into big power backs in the NFL back in the day like:

Christian Okoye
Mike Alstott
Jamal Lewis
Jerome Bettis

I doubt any one guy in rugby would consistently be able to bring those guys down.

Not at all. He was just called by his last name. He's large but plenty of others are around that size too.

this. if you're a top tier athlete soccer is like option 6 or 7 here. if people here actually cared about soccer we'd be at least a world power if not totally dominate.

Not true. I played for my local men's rugby club which also happens to be in a big college football town. A few times per season we'd get some football cuts and often they'd look like fools and couldn't hack the amount of conditioning we'd do just for a (for fun) club team.

LMFAO at how the lowliest position player in the NFL would go to rugby and effortlessly shatter their most revered records.

Same with soccer, same with really all sports other than 'The (American) Big Three'.

That's what happens when your country's at the center of the sports universe.

I know it sucks for outsiders but if you cry enough America might send a few waterboys over to make the HOF in your beloved "sports".

Kicking a ball around can hardly be considered a real sport.

There are no fine motor skills involved, kids in elementary school kick a ball every day.

We call it "kickball" and it's actually more of a sport than soccer TBH.

Might as well consider spelling bees and stacking cups a sport too while we're at it.

Oh nooooo! Not fine motor skills. Soccer is finished after that comment. I don't even watch that chit but the way they move their feet counts as fine motor skills. Also Marquette King literally just kicks a ball around.

He mostly got replies like that because he has the big mouth american attitude of arrogance saying hes the best, where rugby players as a whole are humble.

I tend to see this with American sportsmen where they have to tell everyone they are the best, where even the most successful sportsmen from other countries downplay their achievements.

Money. Literally money. It has nothing to do with one sport being easier than the other. ****ing lol.

NFL is about short burst of athleticism. Which they are better at than rugby players. But Rugby is about constant endurance with no rest. No NFL player will ever survive a rugby game. By the 50th minute the rugby team will be racking up tries and running through the ruck.

There aren't even punters in Rugby you dip****. Anyone who kicks has an actual roll that requires knowledge of the game, not to mention other skills like tackling, passing, chip kicks, grubber kicks, dropkicks. This guy would flop around like a ****ing fish in the boat before finally getting his one kick off into the opposition 22 and get called for a mark. Neither you nor he have even seen a rugby game to know how ****ing stupid you sound.

Wouldn't care, being an NFL punter is easily one of the best sporting jobs in the world. Risk of injury almost nil, can have a long career, NFL money, etc.

Normally by now someone would link Carlin Isles (an american football player who played Division 2 football and dominates Rugby 7s.) Given the title fastest man in Rugby etc, but then someone will always say, "No one watches sevens"

And for those who are outside the US, Division 2 means his team was outside the top 129 teams in the country.

Edit- also for size comparion. Carlin Aisles is 5'8 (1.73m) and 165lb (75kg) vs Marquette King (the punter everyone is talking about) is 6' (1.82m) and 192lb (87kg)

And my thoughts on the argument is that its 2 different skill sets.

This guy was signed to the Detroit Lions and chose to go elsewhere. You're acting like he's a nobody, meanwhile the US sevens team is hot garbage lmao. Even NZ doesn't do well because, guess what, sevens is filled with literal b-tier players too. That's why Fiji always wins. Talking about sevens is like talking about the XFL

You're not understanding Timmy.

I'm telling you the punter can go play rugby and be the best of all-time at any position he chooses.

That's the talent gap, some NFL coaches could make pro rugby teams and start.

Umm he was signed to the practice squad for 1 season, while the other player was in the NFL for 5 years.

Yes that means he wasn't even good enough to be a special teams player.
