All the places worth seeing outside the US are overrun with tourists. I don't need to leave the US to see tourists...

Completely untrue. I had great conversations with people in Germany and Austria on my last trip to Europe. They were honestly interested in hearing my perspective on both US and EU politics and I was interested in the same from them. If you're a normal person nobody on either side of the Atlantic then nobody cares where you are from.

Came in to say this. I'm not American but if I was, I think I would be happy to just travel within the US. Seems like there would be more than enough to keep you occupied.
