Great Grandfather. He was a Swedish immigrant, and had barely any money. He grew up on a farm in Varmland, Sweden though, so he came over with some skills. He and a bunch of Swedes in Chicago area were "cowboys" as they called themselves. They used to get a group of guys and go into Canada through the Minnesota border and cut down trees for lumber. My grandpa said if they got injured, they used to piss on the wound and wrap it up tight. They would bring the lumber back and build houses for people in Minnesota/Wisconsin/IL. I just got his bible a month ago because they found it and my grandpa said "I'm old, what am I going to do with it?" It's in Swedish, but he has a lot of things underlined and a few things written in the front pages I translated. He was a good man.

Arsenal's keeper Martinez has a pretty uplifting story I just found out about.

Anyway, my answer is Stu Hart (father of Bret and Owen Hart of WWF). As a kid lived with his family in a tent on the prairie in Alberta. Can you even imagine. The family ate by Stu killing wild animals with a sling shot. Apparently when the Great Depression hit, it didn't affect his family like other families as they were completely destitute in the first place.

He ended up qualifying for the Olympics games in wrestling, playing for the Edmonton Eskimos, becoming a massively successful pro wrestler, ran a massively successful wrestling company and raised his 12 kids in a mansion and being award the Order of Canada.

Matthew Chav mentioned Gordon Ramsey too, who came from absolutely nothing. Was also on the verge of a professional football career before a career-ending knee injury did him in so he ended up working as basically a dish washer. Now he's a world famous celebrity chef.
