I dont think it necessarily protects you 100%, but logically it has to offer some level of protection for you, and it also protects the people around me from me coughing or breathing on them. Not 100 percent but something. And yes i think people who dont wear masks do so to look tough. Its usually men. I see them walking with their wives or gf and the girl is wearing a mask and the guy is strutting without one, clearly trying to appear alpha but just the opposite. Its a cope

Your projecting your subconscious thoughts that non-mask wearers are tough. There is no reason to think that most non-mask wearers are doing it to be tough.

The question you have to ask yourself is, “How do you know if the mask is working properly?”

It is imperative to be able to answer that question, as you need to know what it means for it to not work, in order to do a comparison if it is.

question for the non-maskers....person with COVID-19 comes into your personal space and sneezes, do you think you have more of a chance of contracting COVID-19 if the person is:

a) wearing a mask
b) not wearing a mask
c) makes absolutely no difference

on a similar note to OP...i walked into my local dollar store to pick up some crap, loser at door advised me to follow arrows on the ground, i say ok sure..started walking up an aisle but realized there was 4 people in that isle, so i noped, and walked up the other aisle that was empty, and moron was like "i just told you to follow the arrows!" to which i replied there are 4 ppl in that aisle...he replied that i should walk to the next (far) aisle....for fack sakes, there is no one in the aisle, why would i not go up it, i shook my head and proceeded to walk up the aisle the wrong way

We’re wearing surgical masks @ work when car pooling to and from our project site. We were doing N95s, but there probably isn’t much of a difference in terms of blocking droplets

I would worry and act the exact same amount if covid never existed. I would act like a rationally thinking human being that uses deductive reasoning and can put the pieces together. this is not about a virus. just like black lives matter isn't about george floyd.

my only issue with the whole mask mandate is that if covid was as easily transmittable via droplets from the mouth/nose, why is a swab way up the nose required to determine if you have covid?

a mouth swab isn't 100% accurate from what i've been told by doctors. they recommend doing a nasal swab.

not only that, the way covid deaths are categorized is ridiculous.

A quick google suggests that they’re actually swabbing the entire passageway to the back of your throat and it’s designed to collect the best specimen possible. That’s not to say they couldn’t possibly get a good enough sample from your mouth, but they standardize the procedure to collect a top-tier specimen regardless of circumstances to ensure the test is as accurate as can be

you did not answer....i agree this sheit has been exaggerated to death, by the MSM and hospitals trying to get those Corona dollars, but COVID-19 does exist. The chance of contracting it is small, i agree. I wasn't really worried until i read some accounts of ppl getting it on here actually, and only started wearing a mask when it was mandated in my area last week.

Comparing COVID to BLM, c'mon man...BLM is refuted by one simple stat

Not on purpose, but people pass by you coughing and sneezing all the time. If you live in a big city with lots of people walking about, inevitably people cough or sneeze just as your passing by. We never gave it much thought before a few months ago. But now i think out of respect for each other we should try to contain our own germs as best we can. Not saying its 100 percent effective. I dont know what percent effective it is. But if it makes the person passing by me feel more secure than im ok with wearing it. And i only expect equal respect in return, so thats why i feel others should wear a mask too. Im only speaking about situations that we are walking in congested areas, which here in NY is most main streets. But by all means if you are walking on a quiet street and nobody is too close, pull the mask down like i do.
And yes i wash my hands after i crap. But i dont wash them after i finger bang your mom cause i like to let that stank smell linger whenever i want it.

The masks don’t prevent you from catching it, they prevent your droplets from escaping and infecting others

I dunno how dirtiness affects things escaping the mask, but moisture in the mask almost surely helps provide a more effective barrier
