It has nothing to do with African Americans but rather the connection to the African Diaspora and highlighting the Art, Music, and Fashion of that region. Just take it for what it is or don't click on it. Simple as that.
Excluding the people who just think it's trash, I think people hate it because of the social context involving race. That's literally it. Some forms of racial pride are acclaimed, while others are criticized. And people are reactionaries to that context. This is basically just the result of emphasizing race in that context.

The ironic part is that white-centric culture is criticized because of slavery and oppression, but African nations sold their own people into slavery. So one of the primary aspects that's applied to Eurocentricism that's used to say its "problematic" isn't similarly applied to Afrocentrism. That's one of my biggest hangups.
