I picked Detroit as an indicative example; it's not exhaustive.

My previous post touched upon a lot more than "race" and "gun ownership" - it added "decline", notably where (though crime rates have plummeted) people either continue to feel like policing is absent, or where then police departments have been heavily cut in terms of funding. The latter point is interesting - the "why", and it isn't just "to clean up their own mess", to be clear.
