Sure they’re better now but they are still absolute pieces of ****. At our school, most of the engines we used for instructive purposes were from Hyundai because the dealership would donate all their trashed ones. We literally had a garage full of them.

For some reason if they don't buy Japanese, they love Tauruses.

My mechanic is Viet namese. He drives an older single cab Chevy pickup with blacked out windows. Pretty badass truck srs.

Also not sure if srs... Everybody knows HONDA is the primary vehicle choice of Asians in the US. And Nissan is mostly bought by black people (Altima) and Latinos (Sentra).

If this is true then it must be cheaper for them to offer a warranty and put in crappy engines than to just put in a good quality engine. Strange.

Yeah, I was randomly wondering though it you could pick up a normal Elantra GT cheap (maybe the engine went bad) and drop a different engine in it. Seems like from the blurb on google though that the Spoon engines are expensive.

Many, if not most, Asians are robots with no passion in life except to chase success. As a result they optimize everything and buy cars purely for efficiency.

Not sure. Subaru’s are terrible as well. Serious oil leaking problems which led them to have to pressure test the Boxer engines at the factory before installing them to make sure they don’t leak. The Toyota dealership I work for has sister dealerships and one is Subaru. We can see their logged hours and they far surpass any other of our other dealerships because the Subaru’s are always being fixed. I like Subies but would expect problems if I ever bought one.

I remember a guy in a wrx messing with me one night at a light back in the late 90’s. At the next light I agreed to run him, I’m in my 95 Z28. The light changed to green and I banged it, after about 5 seconds I looked in my rear view, didn’t see him because he was a length behind me in my blind spot. Those 4 bangers could get it.

Bought an F150 to pull the trailer.

CR says Hyundai is mostly as good as Japanese brands now. Honda has been slipping quite a bit though - their new transmissions have been awful.

I know a lady bought a new accord couple years ago and went through hell with it. Dash would just randomly turn off, lights radio everything. She must’ve taken it to the dealer 5 times before they put her in another vehicle.

I saw a really good video on YT where a guy takes apart a boxer engine and explains in great detail why they're so flawed. Horizontal cylinders are not a good idea.

This is exactly why American't brand cars sell better, has a better rep, and and last longer on average than Asian cars. Yall just have too much passion.
