Please list the parameters for "unaccountable murder"?

Example not relating to any particular event: If a man draws a weapon on a cop, and the cop shoots him, should the cop be held accountable in the matter of judicial punishment?

I really don’t see how an officer of law authorized to use force and arrest persons for committing crimes has the law “on his side” when a person armed with a deadly weapon displays intent to harm said officer

If it was a private citizen making a citizen’s arrest the outcome would be no different

Doesn’t really seem like that’s “having the law on ones side” you’re just a fukkin idiot dude

That's a strawman, I think. It's because he was reaching for something unknown to the officer that he got shot. His criminal history is just mentioned by people as a reason to not care or to be happy that he was shot.

Next time a scumbag grabs a knife I hope the cops back off and allows him to escape so he can run directly to your family's home and stab your parents to death. Scumbag lives matter.

"weapon" can be anything from a stick to a shotgun. thats too broad a question to answer. it comes down to if the officers life was clearly in danger. which currently is interpreted VERY liberally.

If you're wondering why Blake was shot you only need to see the Dinkheller shooting. I'm pretty sure most active LEO have seen it.

THIS.

Ya'll, how much would you have to be paid to be a Cop that has to respond to domestic violence 911 calls, on a daily basis? Seriously... 150k ? 500k?

It's a difficult, chit job. With 1,000 things that could go wrong.

As mentioned a few times already, if you put yourself in a position that endangers public safety or police lives, you get what you deserve. No "Fair Trial" if you play games like this.

I can’t even take you seriously anymore, if you fail to see how a man with a knife that fought and resisted those officers still within that close a distance isn’t a threat to your safety and especially those kids then idk what to tell you.

Reaching for an unknown item while being hostile towards police and where non-lethal weapons were ineffective is a context where the officer's life could be in danger. You don't wait to see what's produced. Because what's produced could terminate a life. The only liberal nature involved in the interpretation is the political kind. In reality it's a very cut and dry determination.

Some people ITT are speaking as if Jacob had the knife in his hands but from what I read it was on the floor of his car. You guys need to decide which it is with your arguments.

(Opinion) Also if it was on the floor of his car it looked to me like he was reaching for his steering wheel to get into the vehicle. Not bending over to grab a knife and attack cops with guns.

I am butthurt bro. I really am. I am not ashamed of that. I just want people to stop killing other people unnecessary.

That is a valid reason to be butthurt. We should all be butthurt about it.

Instead you just make excuses.
At what point are citizens responsible for resisting lawful arrests? Because if your people continue to push their agenda of police brutality we will lose all law and order in our country. If 99.9 percent of these people who have been shot by police had simply complied with lawful orders they would still be here today. Why are we persecuting the police for being forced into positions they never should have ever been placed in the first place and not urging people to comply with orders? Because it’s not about equality at this point. This is a race war that hasn’t come to light yet. There are black extremists and white extremists. But unfortunately cuck liberals are falling for black extremists agenda of achieving superiority. And Op you should be ashamed of yourself for falling into this garbage. You obviously don’t know anyone on a personal level who is a cop.

The DOJ report explicitly stated he was armed with it. The knife was recovered from the floor of the car after the shooting

It’s why they didn’t approach him sooner in the first place

I just don’t see how multiple officers let 1 man casually walk into a vehicle and them immediately blast him in his back once he makes it inside... especially if he wasn’t armed during his jolly walk
"Let him." The guy defied a taser and multiple commands and went to grab for something. If the police wanted to execute Blake, they could've done it at any point from A to B, but waited until he went to reach for something to do it. Now why is that?

"Clearly in danger" I agree is interpreted liberally. But like you said, it is broad. So I think we can agree that if a gun was pointed at the officer, then that is clear danger and shooting the suspect would be justified. However, at this point the officer is likely to be shot.

So the officer needs to determine a point that is BEFORE the point of getting himself shot, but also AFTER giving the suspect ample notice that the suspect is acting in a manner that is going to get himself shot. Would you consider a physical altercation followed by getting tazed twice as fair warning that you are headed down the path of getting shot if you continue? And if not, what if you then fled to your car and then reached for something as they were pursuing you?

to be clear i support the officers in that situation with the dude who had a knife. they tried to tase him, that didnt work, he played himself. my issue is with lack of accountability when shootings are not justified and the seemingly lax interpretation of mortal danger often used to justify them.

I encourage all you guys trying to dissect this issue to read graham V Connor. This was a court case decided in I believe 1989 in the Supreme Court. In a huge nut shell is that:

Cases are rapidly evolving and unpredictable

It’s not fair to Monday morning quarterback officers from a perspective of 20 20 hindsight

Our officers must be judged from the perspective of what they knew at the time.

An example. What if we could see that Blake did or did not have a knife from a different angle filmed from a guy recording from a cell phone but the officer that shot him couldn’t not see what was going on from that angle when he made the shot.

There are other factors such as resisting arrest, fleeing, severity of the crime

The courts gave officers these parameters because they recognize that officers are human. They have to make split second decisions that can mean life or death while they are in situations that are rapidly evolving and unpredictable.

It’s easy for everybody to sit here and rewind a YouTube video and talk **** about what should have been done different.

Not sure if you’re an LEO but that’s pretty much exactly the basis on all applications of deadly force plain as day that gets drilled into our heads from day 1. Normal citizens don’t understand this cause they’re not made aware of case law and policy relating to use of force for law enforcement

Normal citizens don’t get it because they aren’t placed in these situations nor do they care. There’s nobody going out there saying hey. We are training officers on Tennessee garner and graham Connor.

Literally nobody has stood up and explained how the officers are being trained and said whether they acted within the training or not. Our government has failed to take up for our first responders and had further led to the destruction of our nation.

And if not, what if you then fled to your car and then reached for something as they were pursuing you?
And sorry for replying twice. But there’s a reason that there is no case law on exactly when an officer should use less lethal and when they should shoot.

There’s an infinite amount of different situations that could happen. Officers used to be taught on the use of force continuum which went from officer presence to soft hands to baton to gun etc etc. problem is since Graham V Connor exists it also reminds us that every case is different. We can’t always start with hands on. Because what if an officer stops a car and the suspect immediately starts shooting? Well obviously soft or hard hands or pepper spray won’t work. So the officer must immediately go to firearm.

Officers are trained the same way on dealing with a suspect with a knife. Knives are considered a deadly force situation. I know everyone wants to say well shoot the guy in the leg or tase him.

I encourage you to watch the video from Athens PD vs a suspect with a knife from I believe 2019 or 2018. YouTube it

My department is 70% black. Since my white brothers are klansman. Be brave enough to call black cops uncle Tom.

1 shooting death of an unarmed black dude was prosecuted last year because another black cop accidentally cranked a round off. The rest were actively harming the officer.

Do you really think you're helping black people with this nonsense? I promise you that you're not. You're doing the polar opposite. Black men think they are being hunted when nothing can be further from the truth. What do you think the outcomes are when they freak the **** out when contact with police happens?

Just admit you want black sovereignty and be done with it.

Did you bother reading the rest of the thread or just replied to me cause you got triggered? If you read the thread and ignored the fact that I mentioned I was poking at another miscer's reply then that's your problem. I don't care about the color of the skin of whom is getting the short end of the stick at the time of a police interaction that ends on them being killed, what I care is about due process not shoot first and ask questions later, and LOL at assuming I support BLM or any of the groups going on right now. Shows how you just assumed and didn't bother reading.
