Wrong on the respect part. America is full of bloatlord fatties, so you will always be perceived as younger, treated less seriously, and less intimidating in altercations. Basically, it's about being treated seriously, especially important if you have a babyface, small frame, no facial hair, or are a manlet.

As you get older and start to establish yourself in the corporate world you quickly realize that no one gives a chit about your zyzz physique. All that matters is that you excel at work and aren't a fat lazy slob of a human being. I've felt healthier and happier once i scaled back lifting to twice a week and focused on cardio. Better skin complexion, better heart health, better moods.

No doubt a shredded physique helps out with women in certain situations, but its very much a double edged sword. If you want a solid GF 7-8/10 type, you may be less likely to connect with them due to their perceptions of you being shallow, vein, uninteresting, self absorbed, orout of their league (srs)

The problem is this is a bodybuilding forum. We all think women care so much about aesthetics, shoulder to hip ratio or v-taper, bf%, vascularity, big arms, etc.
Most don't give a fuk. At all. Actually nowadays the bigger you are without getting obese, the better you'll do. At least in the midwest.
Really just train hard and eat decent, and most women are going to comment positively about your physique. No need to be a complete aesthetic kunt unless all you want is to slay easy bitches at the club.

You're too young to fully realize the advantages to being in great shape. In my opinion when you're younger its not as relevant. Because HS/college years there are a ton of people your age that are active/athletic. At 26 there are still lots of guys/girls in your age bracket that are in good shape/have a good physique. Mostly because they don't all have families/kids and haven't started rotting yet.
Check back in 10-20 years. If you've maintained that physique you're literally on godmode. Top 1% for age bracket. There is a big difference between just being better then the average guy your age. And being in the top 1% of physical attractiveness for your age.

Do it for the health benefits srs. It also makes you a stronger tradie and you’re less sore from work if you lift because your body gets so used to both after awhile.
The only way it helps with self defense is if the other person doesn’t know how to fight either. Anyone semi trained can take down someone bigger them. Anyone who trains seriously can take down someone MUCH bigger than them.
Or some maniac high on adrenaline.
I Cringe at people who think just because they lift they’re better than non lifters and usually they’re losers with no real hobbies or consider lifting their main hobby... even though it’s not a hobby....... Just so obssesed when no one really gives a ****. So typical miscer ?
Oh and lol @ people who think you can naturally add more than 20-30 lbs of lbm from lifting. Yeah. Okay.
Waiting for incoming neg train of loser *******s.

Lmao at this gigacope "you don’t want to looked jacked in the business world"
It’s not hard for you all to hide it with bigger shirts if you really want to, especially literally everyone in this thread. Not a bad thing
If you want to show it wear clothes that do or be shirtless, and if you want to hide it wear bigger clothes. No one here has a level of leanness and muscle mass considered too big (plenty of aesthetic as is brahs for sure though)

I disagree op.
Nothing like looking in the mirror every once in awhile and being blown away at your own physique.
Once I went over a month without looking in a mirror shirtless and when I did I mogged myself or something, it felt great.

Also OP has some truth but it makes a pretty massive difference for ethnic dudes who grew up as skinny kids and didn’t fit in as well, especially if they’re decent looking and somewhat tall already

Going from a 17 year old skinny kid, to close to my ideal physique (6'1, 205 and like 10% bodyfat) it was cool, but the end result isn't as valuable or satisfying as I had thought it would be.
I still love the sport, process and challenge so will probably never stop, but I came to realise that's all there is to it really. The perceived external benefits such as respect, status, women, self esteem are negligible and mostly double edged swords.

If you're trying to impress women with money, cars and physique good luck. They don't give a shyt about that. And the ones that do will leave you when one of those 3 you can go longer provide for them.

yeah i completely disagree.
Having an aesthetic physique opens so fukin doors for me, women is only one of those doors. Walking inside any room and knowing everyone is noticing you is something else. No, its not narcissism, its how people react to exceptional physiques.
The key is to not be "that guy". Brb tank tops showing your nipples, shorts almost showing your balls, brb instagram with many shirtless pics, brb look at my physique. Just wear fitted, comfortable clothes and you are golden.
Also, it isnt about being "jacked". Girls dont really give a **** about your arms being 18" or 14". They care about how your arms look in relation to the rest of your body. Pretty much its about your proportions and genetics.
Im 6'0" 182 lbs right now, natty, and i could get to 200 lbs just as lean if i took some capri sun. Would i look bigger and more impressive? Hell yes. Would i be more attractive to chicks? No way. There is a limit, you want to be exceptional, not a freak.
Its tricky but tldr i disagree OP
