My dad loves her like crazy, and uses much of his time and money trying to give her the best life he can, for as long as he can.

The feel-good part comes in when I watch him play with my 3 year old daughter, who was lucky enough to be born completely healthy. I think decades of caring for my sister as she declined gave him a huge soft spot for his granddaughter, who is just beginning her life. I imagine that how he must feel when they interact is one of the best, and most bittersweet things anyone could feel.
This made me teary eyed and smile at the same time.
