I think I am too. Depending on where you are, the most important thing to understand is that is where you will be stuck. I live in a little bit more rural area so every other person has a bad ass tractor to clear the roads. But for the the first day or two after Laura, we were just stuck. Trees across the road every 20 feet.

If we were not at home, we wouldn’t have been able to get here. Since we were, we were stuck for a day or two.

I feel for me personally a tornado is the biggest threat. I have one tree on my property and it is far away from my house. During Lura, my friends and neighbors houses were destroyed. Mine didn’t have a single scratch. Not one shingle came off the roof.

Of course that is not evidence it won’t happen this time.

When Laura hit us, it was a CAT 4. Delta is forecasted to hit land at a CAT 2. That is comforting. Then remembering Laura was forecasted to hit land as a CAT 1 brings back all the anxiety lol.

I’m spending the day collecting some resources, putting all the tools in the Jeep for recovery operations, and securing all my property.

I don’t feel super rushed, because we have tomorrow morning as well. Not looking forward to the gas lines though. Although there is a mandatory evacuation order in the parish just south of me, so “city” may be empty. We will see.

if they are near flood zones and or surge prone areas then maybe yes.
the bigger issue here in the Laura hit areas is that everyone has been gutting their houses and now all the roads and ditches are pretty much filled with debris. what this does is stop water drainage which will cause some more water issues and all create easy items for the storm to just throw at 100+mph so i would at least board up windows really ****ing well. a lot of people will take the storm lightly since it shouldnt be more than a Cat 2, but they will still cause a lot of damage. this is the lake charles area right now, how do you think those tarps will hold up with hurricane force winds?:

For purely selfish reasons, I wish this storm would hit a more populated area that would end up doing a lot more damage. I have a bunch materials stocks that could a strong pumping before end of year, and these storms hitting the same spot in rural Louisiana just haven't been doing the trick so far.

Stay safe though bros. Although waters aren't as warm, I'd still be shocked if this well-developed of a storm is only a Cat 2 as predicted when it makes landfall. My guess is 3+

The tarps were place after Laura to prevent leaking until their roofs get fixed. It rained immediately after Laura causing a lot of water damage inside. We were to scheduled to have our roof worked on today.

I found a small gas station. I was able to fill up the Jeep and all my empty 5 gallons. I still have like 6 or 7 five gallon still full from laura. I treated them.

I feel good about the gas situation.

I have to stay for work (Cop). I ridden out 2 hurricanes sitting in my Ford Explorer in a parking garage. This time I'll be off but subject to getting called in if needed so I stay home. Biggest risks with hurricanes are flooding, trees falling through the roof of your home and morons running a generator in their garage or an enclosed area and dying from carbon monoxide.



TBH the most unappealing thing to not evacuating is being without power. Its hot and humid AF on the gulf coast. That and there really is not much you can do sitting in a house with no power. And no ability to go anywhere. Reading and board games is about it.

Yeah taking 165 to Alexandria then to Shreveport. Glad I’m using Waze because traffic is bad. I10 to Texas is backed up, 171 is backed up.

You get a hotel reservation already? I imagine it will be hard to get one now. Maybe Monroe might have some if you can’t find one in Shreveport.

This may sound morbid but the last thing a company wants is to have worker's killed out there since if a worker is killed on an offshore rig their cases are worth a ton more money as it falls under Jones act instead of state worker's comp.

Me and my GF are gonna stick it out.

I am gonna take the queen size mattress from the RV and put it in our closet in case of naders, and we have ran some drills to open windows to relieve air pressure. We digging in now. Trying to be real but optimistic. I anticipate another 20 hours or so for prepping and contingency planning.

Hope y’all don’t flood too bad. I remember getting stuck in Gillis/Ragley during Tropical Storm Barry.

Thankfully my father in law was thinking ahead and booked rooms up here.
