I'm against lockdowns, but if we do we should have a 10 day draconic Wuhan style one

Pandemics suck because there is no good solution. You really just have to weather it and move on.

This is the worst thread on the misc. No way there should ever be another lockdown.
This intense lockdown wasn't the reason China seemed to "get over it" quicker. They just suppressed the numbers, and it had been spreading for like 2-3 months already by the time people in the US heard about it.

A few bank staff needed but there will be limited transactions
Some infrastructure around food etc, but scaled back massively as there would be a push to make frozen/canned goods in the weeks prior and supermarkets will not be open
Energy/Telecoms etc but with no moving parts this is minimal
Some medical response but with nobody driving, drinking outside etc its minimal
Media/TV/Radio maybe you need a couple of channels the rest can air repeats
What else is there? Any kind of retail, hospitality, insurance, retail banking, manufacturing etc can all afford a 10 day break

All I'm saying is a 10 day intense lockdown > 1-3 month "soft" lockdown

Schools and University stay open
You can still go to work if you can't work from home (all manufacturing, construction, lots of office workers etc)
Supermarkets stay open
You can go for walks, meet up with another household
Routine non emergency medial treatments continue
Worst of both worlds

Offer them a nice price, and leave it up to them of course. They have to be stuck in a room for 2 weeks, so get food, a bed, shower etc and get paid for it.
Everyone wins no?

Negged for advocating lockdowns.
Especially for a hoax virus that is literally just the flu.

A few things.
If it was actually deadly, I'd say sure, like bubonic plague.
Second, if it didn't leap to subsequent lockdowns, thn maybe. But this is how the first set started, then its been 7 plus months. Give the elite an inch and they take a foot.

Agree with this srs and would fully support it.
Half assed lockdowns are killing us. Brick and mortar businesses can't survive being government forced to run things at 25-50% capacity if they are open at all.

A virus that may not even exist, given that the tests have high sensitivity and low specificity?

Obviously still people think it was beyond the lockdowns.
'Eradicating the virus' is a ridiculous goal to have anyway.

No.
No lockdowns for a non deadly virus. If people want to self lockdown to keep safe because they are personally worried, thats fine, but the rest of us are living life.
No restrictions, no masks, no nothing, just like the flu.

So what if you need an ambulance/hospital while locked down? Now you have to keep the hospitals and dispatchers open. Those workers will need transportation to their jobs. Those vehicles will need fuel and possibly maintenance. There could be car accidents. And on and on....

Agreed, either do it properly or don't do it at all. 10 days of strict lockdowns would be much better than one month or more of loose ineffective lockdowns that still punish you but also have no effect
“Steroids is now just a word that the lazy and ignorant use to describe any guy that has more muscle and dedication than them”– Mike O'Hearn
"I am like getting the feeling of cumming in the gym; I'm getting the feeling of cumming at home; I'm getting the feeling of cumming backstage; when I pump up, when I pose out in front of 5000 people I get the same feeling, so I am cumming day and night. It's terrific, right? So you know, I am in heaven."
