I grew up with the prequels so I personally rate them pretty high. I only watched the originals once a few years ago and just remember thinking it looked old and boring srs. I didn't like the sequel trilogy but Rogue One is pretty awesome.

I think it lessens the value of Luke's journey knowing that he was chosen before birth to have magic powers. He didn't earn that **** lol. Same thing with Anakin in the prequels. I generally find these kind of "Chosen One' plot lines to be crass. If you're not a Skywalker you basically don't matter in these movies.

Under no circumstance should you watch the latest three movies released (episodes 7, 8 and 9). They are unwatchable. No creativity. Boring. Horrible characters. Just a full on abortion, especially The Force Awakens.

Just lol if you didn’t pool your action figures together with your bros, and recreate huge battles.
Original 3 films are great. I didn’t care for the new ones at all. Maybe age, maybe they just didn’t have the magic of the OG films.

They're pretty average, you might as well watch the originals just because of their place in history but you can ignore the rest.

Then there's twitchy pilot guy, blind ninja guy and his friend the guy with a big gun. Also Forest Whitaker wheezing and being annoying af. And some butthurt old white guy.there is a disturbing lack of rogue one mention in this thread. rogue one is probably the best star wars film
For OP:
- first three movies (ANH-ESB-ROTJ) are great
- prequel trilogy - especially TPM/ATOTC - is potato level, and shows what happens when Lucas is not under supervision, but worth a watch
- we don't talk about the sequel trilogy
- Rogue One is also worth a watch
- Solo is actually an OK movie. Nothing spectacularly bad/good about it.

Been a Star Wars nerd all my life and will be til the day i die, but Star Wars is, and always has been, targeted to kids (and you must be in contact with your inner kid to enjoy the new films), so if you watch them as an adult for the first time, you may enjoy them, but not get all the hype and utter love for the saga that can only born when you see them as a kid.
But you should see at least the originals, just to not be clueless about one of the milestones of popular culture in the last century.
