You can fix up any property and imrove it over time. You can´t fix up the surroundings of a city. Apartments in these big cities are extremely overvalued, and are in a bubble that will eventually pop. The cities are not getting better, the´re getting worse. City living also stands in the way of enlightenment, and bomards you with overstimulation. The likelyhood of finding an undervalued rural property is much higher than the likelyhood of finding an undervalued urban property.
Lets speak facts. There is much more crime in america than in most european countries. America has thousands of gang controlled neighbourhoods lol, and cities that are 3rd world level violent. America is a big country, so of course theres plenty of good parts. However, many american cities look like chitholes to me. Baltimore, camden, memphis, detroit, los angeles, new york, washington. The list goes on and on
Extremely many people incarcirated in prison waiting to get out. Slovenia is much safer than most american cities.

Make it 4K in Austria/Vienna if you want to, which is easily attainable.

I will say this for America and the western countries you mentioned, at least you don't get ripped off and swindled at every chance by people and businesses. You go to a store or use a service and the price is the price for everyone. Unlike certain countries where the price varies depending on if they know you're a local or not.

If anything, relations between Christian nations across Europe and NA should be strengthened in times where the values are at risk of being undermined.

OP, you could probably find cheaper, closer to the sea and more picturesque places in Bosnia or even Croatia. You would be pretty far away from Italy and Austria, but you would be surrounded by mountains.

Slovenia is not a poor country. It's not even in eastern Europe. Think of it as a little bit poorer Austria.
I would love to buy a house here one day. It's in western Bosnia, right next to a ski resort and ~2 hours away from the Adriatic coast. Cost range for a house here is like 50k-120k euros, or even less if you wanna buy an apartment.

Mountains that are not far from the coast. Sounds ideal

First of all Slovenia is not even Eastern Europe for god sakes, how anyone can even say that is beyond ridicilous, maybe learn some geography?
2nd of all, Slovenia is a pretty good country to live in
-Low crime rate
-No natural disasters
-No deadly or poisonous animals
-Peaceful
-Many things close (croatia sea, italy, austria..)
-Beautiful girls
-Pay and money is good, not amongst the top euroepan countries but not amongst the lowest (yes the average pay is much lower than US like someone said, but he also forgot to say that the taxes, prices for electricity, house bills, rent...etc is lower than the US, plus you don't need to save money for pension because if you work after you complete work you are eligable to get pension based on your pay..plus other things)

zknarc, what about claiming benefits in the UK when you lost it?
For the HDI rating, it has a lot to do with the fact that for smaller countries a very high rating is more easily obtained. Look at the top 20 countries and most of them have relatively small populations. Slovenia is literally 2m people.
Edit: The number of Americans ITT who legit think everything outside US (and maybe Canada, Australia, UK, Germany, France) = drugs, war, poverty is alarming. srs
There are also Asian countries where quality of life is extremely high, such as Japan, South Korea.
