I agree, individualism leads to a predatory society where the weak/those in need of help are left vulnerable to exploiters and abusers.

I respect right wingers who are 'Paternalistic Conservatives' who talk about the need for the more wealthy and powerful within a society to protect and support those in need.

Individualism IMO encourages people to simply ignore their fellow person who may need temporary or long term psychological or physical support, because 'they should do in themselves', 'pull themselves up by their bootstraps', which just leaves them vulnerable.

I've even heard people who honestly try to argue that all a 90lbs soft hearted woman needs to defend herself when living alone is a gun, and then she can fight off a home invasion by a gang without needing to call for help. As if human beings don't have different temperaments, constitutions, and physiologies.
