Guy was acting like a douche, but trying to arrest him was total overkill. Fining the crap out of him would also be pointless because nobody is going to pay them. So it would have been better to simply de-escalate the situation, get them off the ice and move on but obviously the cops couldn't let their egos go.

This is what cops are supposed to use in Ontario.
Pretty sure its the same in Alberta... JFL at woman jumping to steps not warranted.
He is only being passive resistant so they shouldn't go passed communication.

He was told he was under arrest and refused to listen to orders. They tried doing soft hands by placing his hands behind his back and he refused. So the next step is hard hands then intermediate weapons “taser, oc or baton”

Don’t have to keep repeating orders if you do you will look like you won’t act. So after a warning or two you have to up your progression to get them into cuffs.

Those 2 obviously failed the "emotion regulation" and "using critical thought and tangible skills to defuse a tense situation" courses at police academy. That was really pathetic and infuriating to watch.

Anyone defending the cops in this scenario should apply for guard posts at Auschwitz.

The male cop actually seemed reasonable and restrained, which tells me he would have just told the guys to get lost so he didn’t have to ticket them. Female cops power trip and escalate to having to forcibly arrest someone.

How dare he exercise his freedom to skate on the ice during the worst pandemic the world has ever seen.

Men would just make him go off the ice and maybe write his name down for a warning. Women I think genuinely cannot understand the relative risk of something like this virus and why it does not make sense to rearrange your entire life to avoid, as this puts you in greater risk overall.

I totally understand that they had to assault him because they had to arrest him because they had to get his id because they had to fine him because they had to take offense to his attitude because they had to warn him because they had to respond to the bull**** call. But shouldn't there be a "just fukk off instead of intentionally escalating to the point where you might have to kill or be killed over kids skating too close together on a rink" circuit breaker in there somewhere?
