Just takes a Monday off, and maybe a Tuesday. (Pre Covid)

Friday night leave work, go straight to the airport, boom in Amsterdam 3 hours later as one example....

Retirement is cool and all, and Im working towards ti just like all of you while still living a good life here and now.

Anyone else worried about another 2008, but bigger? The Great Resetis very real. Since then, I cant help but think about the fact that another massive (created) crash is coming. Then what? We all know, or should know, that the central bankers and global elite want us in abject poverty living as serfs with no ability to move up. Can never shake that thought every time I try and envision myself comfortably retired at whatever age. MANY people got a dose of that in 2008-present

Not saying I dont save and have a plan, but does anyone else think about this chit all the time?

No. I only worry about things I can control. I could also get hit by a self driving bus tomorrow.

I do balance preparing for the future with having fun now.

The USA is pretty much several countries packed into one. So many different landscapes and regions that you could spend hundreds of weekends exploring the country and never see the same thing twice. Just gotta search boyo.

Agreed. I have a 2-3 year plan depending on how income goes this year and next. If goes super well I’ll be retired by 30 in 2 years if not 3 and worst case 4 at 32

Knew of this one girl's brother who was one of those super frugal (cheap ass) guys that was just all about saving money for retirement. When their dad died, he fought like hell legally to basically rob her of any inheritance, and he took every single penny and put it towards retirement. Not even a year later he got killed in a car accident. What was justice is one of the reasons he died in that crash was he was driving an old Honda that had almost no side impact protection and no side airbags and was hit by a pickup truck, and the reasons he slid sideways was because he drove on cheap bald tires. His wife who was just like him, is now fighting ovarian cancer which we know how that one usually turns out and it's not looking good at this time.
Hilarious....guy got what he deserved....his wife too.

This, the Rockefellers, Rothschilds and Corporations created a world where the masses are enslaved and few break out. I wish more people would wake up to it so we can all make change.

Rockefellers own Big Pharma, Education, Rothschilds own Banking, Corporations like Monsanto and Dupont work with the FDA to poison us our whole limes and we we spend our whole lives paying back into those people.

Who knows? 30 years ago a loaf of bread was .79 to maybe $1.49. Now it is more like $2 to $4. It could definitely go to $10, or even $15.

Sadly common. More so with very physical jobs I believe.

I think my dad used to say that men who retired off the assembly line at GM lived an average of about 5 years past that. He retired when he hit 20 years; 57 or 58 I think. Died at 67.

Mom didn't have a planned retirement. Lost her job during the 2008 downturn and couldn't get another job. Passed in 2019 @ 72 so I guess she had a bit longer "retirement", but I wouldn't say she enjoyed it as she had a lot of financial stress and had to cut out most of the little fun stuff she had enjoyed while she was still working...mostly socializing and traveling with her church lady friends.

Don't think about it all the time, but can't ignore it. If you are 20 or 30 maybe it will be a rough patch that you see the other side of. 50 and up crowd? Might be something you have to survive under for the rest of your life.

OP is right. Late retirement and compounding interest methods of retiring are awful.

One benefit if you work your whole life for a few $Mil, then die soon after, your children will be able to live off the interest and go to fine schools at least.

I am planning on setting up my life so that I can work until I die - which means I'm doing stuff I actually enjoy. I'm most of the way there already, just have some adjustments to do over the next five years. By the time I'm 50 I'd like to be set working 10-15 hours a week at one job and spend about 20 hours a week doing the other which creates residual income, and then just enjoy.

Its a balancing act, Enjoying life while you're young enough to but also saving enough at least enjoy sitting on your butt later in life.

Unfortunately I feel the plight of my peers that can only afford to do one. Its kind of sad

Live modest, save a little, avoid liabilities that separate you from your money.

Are you saying that the 15% or soof your wage you’d put into a retirement fund should perhaps be put somewhere else like another mortgage or something that can be used immediately rather than putting it into a retirement scheme?

My buddy's dad could only ever talk about was how wonderful retirement would be, and how he would be living better in retirement than he did during his career. He had a vacation planned the weekend that he retired with his wife; and went out to shovel snow so the limo to the airport could pull into the driveway and he suffered a massive heart attack. His wife was inside and checked on him after realizing that it was an extraordinarily long time since he went out. Found him face down in the snow and let out a blood curdling scream that brought the entire neighborhood outside. Dude looked forward to retirement his whole life and enjoyed a whopping 48 hours of it. Redpill of all redpills.

Tomorrow is the 6 year anniversary. srs

I'm really looking forward to my own retirement in a few years. It will coincide with my kids becoming independent. Gonna have a good income and no financial cares in the world. Time to get into training seriously, business opportunities, hobbies etc. Gonna be sweet as.
