not sure with Applebees, but with Boston Market 100% yes the quality has gotten cheaper. They used to have great tasting good, especially the sides. Now it doesn't taste quite the same. Everything there tastes similar to frozen meals you get at the grocery store now, where before it tasted like authentic Thanksgiving style food.

subway has always been meh, it's just now it's being priced like its gourmet food.

Got food poisoning from Subway in 2001. Haven't eaten there since. Still have a gift card for there from 2008 that I'm never gonna use.

Majority of ppl in here are exaggerating about how “bad” the quality got. Taste the same to me as it did a decade ago. Had it a month ago and it was fine.


I can agree something Jersey Mike’s is definitely “fresher” but subway taste the same as it always had.

Funny enough I've seen 3 subway locations I used to frequent out of business just this week.

Subway was never good. The only reason why I used to eat there was because they used to be cheap, now they're expensive AF.

Quiznos was way better but I rarely ate there because they were expensive, now subway prices match Quiznos' prices.

These days, the cheapest fast food joint is McDonalds because they have specials like 2 big macs for $6. Next cheapest would be Jack in the Box.

Even In n Out is getting expensive as fcck these days....

Yeah, the last time i was in a subway was like 3 years go and i ordered a chicken bacon ranch sub. Girl is weighing the damn chicken before she puts it on the sandwich and has the audacity to pick a single piece of chicken out of the scoop and puts it back into the bin, then dumps the scoop on to my sub.

Its also like $13-14 for that piece of **** sandwich.

i really need to remind myself more how lucky i am to have lived my whole life in new york and new jersey. literally thousands of mom&pop pizza and sandwich spots that put places like subway to shame.

The quality of ingredients definitely dipped but the main reason they're going out of business in Australia because of Vietnamese dog rolls on every corner.

Random but you reminded me the last time I was in Philly I waited for over an hour to get "The Best Cheese steak Sandwich in America" from Sonny's.

Absolute chit, meat had ZERO flavor, tasted like it was boiled, onions and peppers were watery and lacked flavor, and the roll was fuking massive. Then they had the audacity much to my chagrin to spray cheesewiz all over the thing. 16 bucks and and hour plus of wasted time.

I took like 2 bites said it was trash and tossed it in the garbage in the middle of the restaurant. The best part was all the shocked
and angry locals who couldn't understand that I couldn't possibly like that hot garbage. I heard a couple of em bitching under their breath about it

"What's this guy's problem"
"He wouldnt know a good sandwich ..."

Most have buy 1 foot long get one free when you order online

And you can earn points for free salads /sandwiches. The only reason I go there is because they have egg whites which is great for a vegetarian. But jimmy johns unwiches are the chit and they are so much faster

I still eat at subways occasionally, but usually because someone gave me a gift card. Their food is easy on fitting into my meals for the day.

My local subway is still very popular though. The food quality has definitely gone down. I hate their attempt at appealing to millennials and zeds. Not a fan of their agua frescas. Those machines look dirty as all heck.

I wouldn't even consider their vegetables to be good tbh. OOOooooh spinach and chity shredded lettuce that taste like arse! It's like I stepped into the early 2000s.

I have 3 usual sandwiches I get there. The meatball is my go to if I have the space, and honestly is the only one that tastes the same. The bread is terrible, and seems to be getting worse as time goes on.
Just keep on going.

This. They went the same way lots of chain restaurants went.

They get pressured by their investors to increase the profit margins so they do two simple things:

Increase the price and decrease the quality. All while ramping up the marketing to compensate.

Every once in a while Subway sends out coupons and I might grab a $5.99 any footlong just cause it's cheap. Still very meh and very little meat. I'd never pay full price for Subway.

If I'm going to spend $9 for a sub I'm going to Jersey Mike's.
