I have no advance notice when they are going to be rented out. Something breaks down at the local refinery or there is some maintenance project and a group of welders, pipefitters and boilermakers show up to do the work. They find out about my places, call me, and within 20 minutes I'm giving them a tour of the places. They pay for a week then start unloading their stuff from their trucks. If it is after 5:00, I can't get any of the utilities turned on.

I had some meth heads break into one of my places and set up a chop shop in the living room with stolen bicycles. My wife walked in on them when she was checking the vacant houses. We put motion activated cameras with night vision in all our unoccupied places after that. The cameras need an internet signal to transmit the feed to our phones. That's why I leave the internet on. A few months later I caught someone on camera trying to steal an HDTV. Police were there in 30 seconds. She spent 18 months behind bars. Then she had to take a drug screen each week to get her kids back. Guess who gave her the drug screen each week? The guy writing this post. That's my official day job. That's also how I find my renters. All the new refinery contractors have to take a drug screen before they can get a badge to enter a gate at the plant.

I'm at a center, and happy that I am instead of a tower. Bigger facility, longer checkout times, but also more $$ once you're certified

A critical refining unit went down several years ago on Super Bowl Sunday. A company sent 36 of their guys here to fix it. I was throwing a party at my place that day, and all 36 guys from 4 states were showing up throughout the day. 2 guys brought a camper, the other 34 stayed in about 10 of my available places. I spent more time showing and renting out houses that day than I did at my own party.

She had to pay for the weekly drug screen out of her own pocket. I get a portion of that payment. LOL.

Copy what someone else is doing successfully, but do it better than they do. That's what I did with my rental properties. Now those people are no longer doing rentals. Some actually offered to sell me theirs because (and I quote) "I don't rent any of my places out until all of Paul's places are full".

Back in college there were people that had bagel carts in the area where the bars are. It's a cart with a charcoal grill. They'd sell fresh grilled bagels with cream cheese and other goodies for about $3.00. Mind you, minimum wage was $3.35 back then. They'd sell one about every 30 seconds, that's as fast as they could make them. They'd do this for about an hour then run out of stock. That's $360 a day when minimum wage as $3.35. To put it in perspective, a keg of beer was $47.50 back then. That's 7.5 kegs of beer. Now a keg is about $130. So in todays money, that would be about $975 a day.

I went from $105K TO 180K job last year but already interviewing for other stuff hoping to break a more senior level thinking better pay more hands off and more delegation instead. Not including a rental multi family need to build a portfolio of those to be a big contribution tho

Although if my SaaS gets funding ill quit everything to make <$100k/yr to get that off the ground srs

Honestly, I don't agree with a how she does some of her business.

I think it's predatory lending and have seen her do some pretty ruthless things. Example: She had a client contact her and ask her to borrow $20,000 but he fell in to the sub prime lending category. She said she would lend him the money would require a secondary mortgage on one of his properties. He must of been desperate because he signed his cottage in the Shushwap over in the deal.

He missed ONE payment and she took his cottage from him and his family. I told her I think that is morally and ethically wrong, but she told me 'I offer a service. I don't force any client to borrow the money. Our in house lawyer and I tell them what the consequences are and then they sign the documentation. It's up to them to fulfill their end.'

She's an absolutely awesome person but a shark in the her professional career.

Ive attached my payroll for 2020 and 2021. The corp I work for is also piblically traded and i have 500,000 options at .25. Our share price is .70ish cents right now so im hoping to make a killing their.

I think we may have briefly chatted about this a while back. I do t-line design for an electric utility (I'm a civil). MCOL location.

I'm thinking of getting a full time mba to switch careers, or a part time reputable mba to try and snag a leadership development program from a f500 utility.

most Account Executive roles in SaaS are 50/50 split base and commission. Mine is slightly skewed towards base.

the base salary when you're starting out with no experience will range from $40k - 70k, but as you gain experience and get into "Enterprise Sales" (i.e. selling to Fortune500 customers), the bases range from 80-200k, and on target earnings as high as $400k.

at companies like oracle salesforce google microsoft SAP etc. their best enterprise sales people make over a million dollars a year

im sort of exaggerating, as pre-clown world i was meeting clients across the country every other week, so even if i wasn't "working", the travel could be somewhat hectic. i've been in my current job for a year and a half, and when i was new (the first ~6 months or so) i was working pretty hard, at least 5 hours a day usually.

i built up a large pipeline of deals that are closing (enough to exceed my quota), so i've just been coasting for a while, there are some days where i don't do any work at all. eventually this might bite me in the ass but i've never missed a quarterly quota here (ded fkn Srs)

Oh I see. Do you want to get into administration then? I have to tell you, it's very different than being in technical. What happens if you don't like it? Have you looked at other industries other than Utilities to see what you can make as an engineer? What about changing locations?

If you're single, moving around to a different state for a better paying job with your same qualifications is probably a better idea than going back to school to change towards something that you might not like. What about investing in side hustles like RE or private business? Just a thought, I'm sure you'll figure it out though!
